Does anyone know if these ever get collected? I'd love to get one but you run the risk of it not being a cxi or changing with an orange tail. There's currently one for sale, Guy claims its from a collector in Hawaii who is trust worthy and says its from cxi. Anyone know if any have been taken from there lately?

Remember, not all Xmas Island emperors will get an orange tail.
With that being said, I have a 3" juvenile Xmas Island Emperor here now for my personal tank. It came from a very trusted source and this is the only way to spend the extra coin for this locality at the juvenile size / coloration.

I saw that also and wondered if it really was a true Christman Island emperor juvi, especially since you hardly EVER see these guys.

I deal with 4 wholesalers from Florida to Cai and have never seen a juve cx for sale. I have tried to get a orange tail for years and to no avail I have a xmas right now and its tail is yellow was told it would turn orange he is 8 inches and this info came from my guy in cali and he said the collector told him that so I have given up I know they are out there but few and far between.
Looks like I will pass on this one then. If it was from LA DD I would trust it, but not NYA. I was just hoping someone who deals with collectors knew of juvi cxi emps going out, especially to nya. I know not all will have the orange tail, I had an adult that didn't, even though the place I ordered it from said it did (guess what part of ny that was from?). I just like growing fish out from juveniles.

Interesting, it took me about 2 days to find and purchase a xmas island emp with an orange tail... I guess I got lucky.

I would assume it had to be an adult based on his avatar and if it had an orange tail when he got it but who knows, they do mature so quick.
I hope my juvenile will develop an orange tail but only time will tell. She is right at about 3" still full juvenile colors.
