I bought a used kalk dispenser from a forum member and would like to ask how much kalk should I put in at a time? It will be hooked up to an Osmolator. Any hints or tricks to using would be helpful.
Thanks.
Hmmm. Just hooked it up for a saltwater-only test and noticed that after the water is topped off and the pump stops then the water level drops in the kalk dispenser and backflows into the freshwater reservoir till the water level seeks itself. This seems like some kalk would backflow into the pump after each fill and not be good for the pump?
You need to put a airline check valve between the pump and kalk dispenser and all will be well.
If you go to the tunze website they should have the instructions online for how much to use. I dont go by those though. I put a half cup in about every to weeks when the level gets low. Just make sure you shake the dispenser once a week to keep the kalk from packing on the bottom.
I have the osmolator with the kalk dispenser and its been working great for about 2 years now.
The 5074 calcium dispenser should be installed in the reservoir with the input line looped up to the top and with a check valve installed in the loop above the dispenser itself. Use 2-6 teaspoons in the dispenser everytime you refill a 5-7 gallon reservoir, the amount will depend on tank size and calcium demand. The manual gives some suggestions based on tank volume and type.
