I Finally got my kalk reactor set up with my RK2 controller and it works great keeping my PH at a steady 8.35 day and night best money I have spent on equipment yet I love DIY workshops

I'd be interested in the instructions if you could post them. Pic of finished product would be great also.
Thanks, John

I'd like to ask our trusty C-Sea staff to promote a Kalkenstein DIY meeting for this Spring. I know there was quite a bit of effort put forth for the last DIY that never came to fruition. I for one am interested and willing to write a check now for this spring.

They tried already to do it in November but it was cancelled do to lack of interest and nobody paying up their money!!!!!!

lol... and to think I called off of work in order to go to that meeting...

I'm not sure there was enough lead time and promotion. I for one said I'd make it but had to cancel. My guess is that we will have a dozen plus folks to partake in a Kalk DIY if we start now and promote it a little for a April/May meeting. The Kalkenstein reactor is very cool. I'd like to build one. I'll be the first to send a check if CSEA would like to give it another try.

me too... bump.

Maybe whom ever has the authority and willingness to organize such a DIY meeting should start a thread to guage interest and promote the idea for March/April. Friendly suggestion.

Er um nobody is not totaly correct. There were I think six of us that had paid, which out of all I'm in's was not enough to garner good pricing.

The fluidized-bed reactor was not the same as Kalkenstein it was a 6" diameter reactor with no pump for around $50 the Kalkenstein reactor was a complete working 4" unit with a MJ1200 for mixing and was $59. I would probably go for a kalkenstein DIY activity but didn't want a reactor that was that large since I don't run that much carbon, phosban or anything.

IMO it is worth a shot to ask the people in charge but the last word I saw online was that C-SEA would try as hard as possible to avoid another DIY project.

Maybe if the club doesn't want to get involved we could prep the parts ourselves and ask Tom, John or one of the other guys who participated in CORA's build for a quick assembly demo so they can be assembled at home.

The parts list is readily available online and I'm sure we could pick up the parts at Savko or have them shipped.

Ok, I like the idea of diy projects. I was in on the last one and would love to have another. If and mind you this is only an, if the Club does not want to do one why cann't we as individuals put something together? As long as we we're not doing something that would take more than a day I could probably get use of my church's basement for a Saturday or even a Friday evening carried over to Saturday. We would just have to clean up when we left.

Should we push forward with a concerted effort as a group or continue asking C-Sea for some direction? It doesn't seem C-SEA is interested in running with this ball. I'm not sure who to ask at this point.

Nice link Andy... I had to laugh at this post in the thread though.
