Kana plax and hypo?

I'm currently on day 7 of chloroquine phosphate treatment for marine velvet, dosage 80 mg/gal. Two clowns in a QT, they seem pretty good, one had advanced stages and I'm still uncertain of what the outcome will be.

I would also recommend Acriflavine for marine velvet.

80mg/gal is much higher than I had found, both in this thread and in my research.

May I ask where you learned of the dosing? Based in that dose, I should have added 5 grams instead of the 2.5. I may need to adjust this evening.

Thanks.

That's about 21mg/L. Just a bit more than double the known effective 10mg/L. What prompted you to do such a high dose?

BTW, Acriflavine isn't particularly effective for Amyloodinium.

I did a water change yesterday (slightly increasing salinity) and dosed the new water with chloraquin as best as I could with the gram scale.

I am very encouraged! The Achilles was eating nori today after three days without feeding. He is still covered in white blotchy patches, but his skin is no longer flaking off.

All of the other fish are also showing signs if improved health and more "normal" behavior.

Thank you very much for the guidance and support.

I've gotten some independent suggestion that I should dose the chloriquine a second time. Would like your thoughts. Fish are looking 70% better, but I still see faint white marks or bumps on them.

Thanks in advance.

I have seen some do the cloriquine for a second dose but not at the high levels that the one above was suggesting I wouldn't think.....

In my experience when you say blotchy skin be careful as with some tangs they dont take to the hypo too well like the purple and yellows dont like more than about 3 weeks at the low levels then they start to stress and take a turn for the worse......just monitor closely

Thanks Matt; I have started to raise the salinity through water changes every few days. I am adding chloriquine to the new water based in the original dose.

The usual routine is the one dose for 21 days, with a second treatment after that if needed. I"ll double check my memory when I'm at work tomorrow, where my primary disease text is living.

Kana plax and hypo?

Monday will complete the 21-day cycle of chloriquin. Unfortunately to date we have lost: Achilles tang, purple tang, three female lyre-tail anthias. The mimic tang has now developed this spot. This is the best photo I could take.

Any advice would be greatly appreciated.
