Kannon's 210 Gallon Build

there is a second true union ball valve up above the check valve in the circuit. i build oilfield equipment so i know the how important it is to have redundancy built in.

there are a total of 12 unions, and 4 valves in the setup(8 if you include the manifold.

thanks for the suggestion tho bro.

My point was more about the folly of relying on a check valve .... they invariably fail to do what it is you need them to do. Consequently, they are unnecessary - design the return so that a siphon break stops the back siphon.

true that, and i have that is the return line as well. .... just figured it couldnt hurt and i like the idea of extra union is the system.

i originally had the apex hooked up with a network adapter, also had my electrical running on my kitchen GFCI circuit. Well last weekend i ran into some problems on saturday morning. i woke and started the coffee pot and tripped my breaker!

apparently a Kureig pulls 9.8 amps when its heating up. my tank runs at 11.5 amps (at worst) thats with the titanium heater running and the radions at peak power. .... since im a both a Reef Junkie and Starbuck Verona Junkie. This was not going to work.

so.....

this weekend i ran two deadicated 20amp circuits from the tank wall to the breaker box. also decided since im going through this trouble might as well run a hardline ethernet cable for the Apex. All in all this about $100. well worth the peace of mind knowing the tank is running on its own juice, and i can enjoy a cup of coffee while staring at my tank

Looking great! How are the MP40's doing for flow in the 24" width? I am at that point on my 180 build. I have 5 MP10's between my 58 and 40 gallon tanks and love the performance, but was wondering if the extra width would make much of a difference.

the mp's are awesome. i have total flow throughout the tank. i put one on the back just so that i could hit the back of my acro with flow much like the front of them are seeing. ( i love polyp extension)

i took some nori and spread it out in the tank then turned on the pumps, i had a beautiful "figure eight" flow pattern around my rock structures.

i tried an mp10, but with the 1/2" glass it would not stay at all.

i know they are the most expensive pumps out there but they are by far the best. There is no way there will be a Jaebo anything in my tank.

ok great! I am also looking at the Maxspect Riptide but that would be a waitlist lol. Yeah MP10's wouldn't do a thing on the 1/2" I hoping to trade 4 MP10's for 2 Mp'40s when I sell my smaller tanks.

i have friend who is getting a Riptide sent out next week. i am looking forward to seeing it in person. it certainly looks sweet. i like that you can turn it vertical.

i would have to see it in person and see what performance is like over a years time or more before i jump on it.

if your comparing dollars to dollars yes. if take into consideration customer service and control the mp40 blows the Jaebo away ( no pun intended )

lmao

Never knew why people would compare a Jebao to a Vortech. Compare it to a Tunze sure but Vortech not so much lol.

Kannon, so love your rockwork
And it lasts too!
Is there a thread, or can you give us an explanation how you did it?

Thanks

I was quite simple. i used pond foam, zpoxy 2part, and dry aggregate.

this was my third time building scapes so i had learned alot in the past.

number one thing to remember is you must use VIRGIN rock or fully cured rock.

last thing you want is a beautiful scape covered in green hair algae
