Kdoc's 210g Reef Tank

umm a bluefin damsel i think its called.. it changed to be completely purple... It was a fish from my brothers old tank, years ago... I wish I never put him in that tank lol...I'll probably try the coral in the vase trick again and see how that works out

Trust me, I know...

I used to feed them by puttin food in a net and they would all swim in the net picking at the food... I caught one fish like that, but they never go up to the net anymore... If he's nipping at the toadstool hopefully that will be good enough bait.. I really didnt think it was gonna work for the emperor angel, so hopefully I'll have the same luck.

thanks..

I put a big plastic bottle over the toadstool and it is looking 10 times better...

I REALLY need that damn damsel out lol

I was doing a water change today, and I noticed one of my sally lightfoots in the back of the tank laying on it's back ontop of the sand :(

no its definitely the whole crab. Well I guess my shrimp are going to have a nice lunch... the only other really important thing to do on my list is to get this darn damsel out... I'm going to be SUPER safe when choosing fish in my future... I wish I knew that this fish wasnt reef safe to begin with...

When i DO get him out, I'm probably going to be getting 10 blue/green chromis. Then I'll take it from there lol.

Im trying out the whole trap again like I did with my emperor angel (which was successful)... the thing is, I dont know what to put in the trap... The food I have all floats.. is there anything you guys could recommend?

Im happy because it took a few weeks to get my salinity up from 1.02 to where it is now. Nice and gradually. Worked out good.

Damsel is still in the tank though. I wish he would just swim in my net and help me out lol.

i was so surprised.. I was waiting on the couch with the string near the tank.. about 5-8 feet away, for about an hr... So I got bored and went on the computer for a bit... I looked over to my left (the side of the tank), and i saw him eating the food.. then i was like, wait a minute.. the food is in the container.. so I at first slowly started to go to the string (Which was being held down) but he must have saw me and started going kind of crazy, swimming real fast trying to get out, and banging against the sides of the container.. So i just quickly ran to the string and let it loose, closing the entrance to the container. I still was afraid he would bust through the entrance door because he was slamming against it... So i ran over to the tank and grab the whole container out lol

I will also be hooking up an auto-top-off system very soon, as well as dosing kalk. More pictures to come!!!

Being a high school student myself, I have to say I pretty jealous. The largest tank I own is a 70, but really runs like a 50g. How do you pay for all this? lol, I am going broke trying to do my experiments with lighting... Looks great though. 210 is really big compared to my own tank, which cost me nearly all I had to set up and get it to look decent. Keep up the good work.

Well I researched for about a year before buying any equipment.. almost all the stuff i have for this tank was on sale.. the tank stand and canopy itself was on sale for 40% when I got it... I bought the lighting online, which was obviously cheaper than in stores... I basically bought everything online... I started working at 14 so I saved enough money from then... don't get me wrong though, my wallet isnt as loaded as it was before.

Yea, some here. Research helped a lot and I have been extremely lucky with my tank. I haven't had any losses and I it seems bullet proof so far. Still, whatever job you have, can you hook me up? I volunteer at the maritime center and get paid every once and a while for helping with events, but I can't officaly work for a nother 3 months till I turn 16.

Alright well I fixed my powerheads and they're running nice and smoothly now. Also stopped the sand from stirring up... all i did was move both powerheads on tha same side blowing in the same direction. if you have any questions about modding the K4 let me know...

Also hooked up my reef fanatic auto top off and... I LOVE IT! It feels so good not having to lug in buckets of water several times a day... Thing works like a charm, and highly recommended, at only $89.
