Kdoc's 210g Reef Tank

Lol thanks for the post frosty :)

Yea the Nem seems to be doing fine. Although, I havent seen him "bubble" yet. He just looks like an LTA. Im not sure if thats a good thing, but my clowns are constantly all over it. It's weird. He's sort of it some shade, but during the day, when lights are on, you can see the nem's body stretch up towards the light, around this rock. I'll see if i can get a picture of it tomorrow. I would think that it would move itself where it would want to ??

Also, it's mouth seems to be right nearr the edge of the whole body. I'm assuming this is due to a recent split.

But yeah, as far as the zoas, they're coming either Wednesday or Tuesday. I am always worried when I buy corals online, because I'm never 100% sure as to what I'm going to get. I just hope I get my moneys worth. I at least know one of the frags I'm getting is REALLY awesome, and I got it for a GREAT deal.

Idk I've been screwed over alot of times, and let down with orders online. I just dont want to be opening the shipment all excited, just to be let down by making an expensive purchase and getting so few polyps.

If it's happy enough to stretch itself then it will just stay there :)
It will definitely move if it wants to

Yer, I always worry when receiving online orders too... I hope they turn out to be awesome though :D!
Can't wait to see this really awesome frag :D!

Ok i'll let you in on the corals I'm getting.
The first one is of the exact coral WYSIWYG. And the next one is a frag of a mini colony I'm getting. Brb 2 seconds :)

Magicians: WYSIWYG (my favorite), and now that I think of it. thats a freaking small frag lol. Look at the rock compared to the egg crate

Reverse Blue Sunshines: Getting a mini colony of these

American Pride: He said I'm getting a free one of these for naming them, but I have the feeling he forgot :(

I REALLY REALLY wanted these, but unfortunately he had none in stock :(

I have never purchased a single piece of livestock online and never will. I like to see what I'm getting when I spend my hard earned cash. last week someone on another local marine forum I visit needed help wiring up some lighting and offered a few frags as payment for anyone who would help out. I have a fair bit of time on my hands these days as I only have 1 course to take this summer at night school twice a week so I figured I would offer to help them out.
When I got to the persons home the wiring help became, I install as they watch and what they wanted to do was really stupid but I did as they asked and what was supposed to be a quick job turned into a 2 hour nightmare. They offered me 3 frags of Zoas for my trouble which I politely declined. The person had two tanks setup in the livingroom and both tanks looked like aiptasia farms. I have a huge issue with getting any corals from a tank that has it in it for fear of introducing them to my tank. This is another one of the reasons I won't buy online, I want to see the conditions where my purchases come from. I've only been in the hobby for going on three years but have never had a single stalk of aiptasia in my tanks and plan on keeping it that way.

Lol I feel you on the aptasia. My LR had some on it when I first started the hobby. Fortunately I got peppermint shrimps that took care of EVERY single polyp. UNFORTUNATELY, I think my peppermint shrimp ate my acans :(

I really like those reverse blue sunshines you posted the pic of but I see what you're saying about the size compared to the 1/2" eggcrate squares. Those blues look like they must have been taken with one heck of a zoom lense...lol

Yeah I love the reverse blue sunshines as well (which is why I bought a 200$ colony of them :eek2: ). Dont worry though lol, it was 60% off, so i got it for 80$ :).

Yeah I pictured the magician rock at first to be like 4" long lol. IDK hopefully they'll grow bigger lol. They are awesome looking little zoas, and the bigger they are, the easier it is for us to see it's awesome colors :)

Wow, those few from that set that you are getting look really good :D! I'm trying to find some of those reverse blues atm, no one has them :(

That sucks about that wiring too frosty :(...

It wasn't what I was expecting to do by going as far as I did but I was glad to help the guy out and he did give me some cash instead of the frags for my time so I really cant complain. I was more commenting about the aiptasia that some people dont seem to mind having in their tanks. I just dont understand their thinking when they dont deal with it.

Yer, I've got two stalks of Aptisia that I'm currently trying to work out how I should get rid of them... They're in a very hard to reach place :(

Like I said, I've never had one so I don't want to make any suggestions on how to deal with the 2 you have. Good luck with killing the little buggers.

Some people squirt them with joes juice, or kalk. But I think the easiest way is to boil a cup of RODI water and squirt it with that.

Ok well I'm considering upgrading my powerheads to 2 Used Vortech MP40's gen1. I MIGHT be able to get them REALLL cheap so we'll see.

My modded Koralia 4's right now give out i'd say about 3000gph. The MP40s go a little past that AND they're adjustable which is good because my koralias do blow the sand around a bit.

I wonder what I'd be able to sell my modded Koralias for. HMMM.

Do you reckon the hot RO/DI would really work?
Do i need to squirt it at them or into them?

Yes I have heard that it has worked. I havent done it personally, but since you have such few polyps I would think thats you're best option. Unless it's on a seperate rock and you can just pull it out and cut it off.

I believe you just squirt AT it, as close as possible. (dont spray a ton of boiling water everywhere though.)

Yer, unfortunately I can't take the rock out :(
KK, I'll have to try that :)... After I've done that, and they shrivel up and die, do I have to take them out?

Hmm.. maybe the boiling water isnt such a great idea...

"Yeah, if you have any coraline alge on the rocks, you're going to end up with very white rocks. I tried to use hot water and a turkey baster to blast the aptasia while still in the tank and it bleached all the coraline in a 0.5" radius. Get a syringe, get some kalk (vinegar works better for me) and inject those puppies"
