Kdoc's 210g Reef Tank

Congrats man :D!
I'd say go for it if you've got all the stuff you need :)...
My clowns laid eggs a while back, but I wasn't able to grow rotifers, etc... that you need to feed them :(..
There's tons of guides on the net though of how to do it, so I think if you got the time and means, it would be awesome :D!
Plus, then you could probably sell them back and make some money back on the hobby, lol...

Ha yeah. Unfortunately I don't have what I need to grow rotifers. Have you clownfish laid eggs since? I hope it wont take them another 2.5 years to lay eggs lmao.

Yeah raising them would be an awesome experience, and the summer is just about to start so hopefully they'll lay another batch sometime soon.

Haha, well mine laid eggs about 3 times within a month, but they haven't for a while since... But we're on our way in to winter so that could be why...

Yer, it would be cool to raise clownfish :)... Have tons of baby clownfish swimming around, lol... Plus it would be awesome to watch them slowly get their stripes.

yeah i just think it would be awesome having like 100 baby gold stripe maroon clowns swimming around in a tank.

Only 4 more days left Mitchell!! I can NOT wait.......................................... lol

Congrates on the eggs, mine also took about 2-2.5yrs they lay twice a month took the month of march off tho. Rotifers are the key to raising the fry once they are out of the display tank. That has been the tricky part for me is catching the little guys as they say a few hrs after the lights go out 've been up till 2 am and nothing i wake up for work 5 hrs later and they have hatch and been consumed. goodluck keep us posted.

Yer, that's the problem, you gotta get them out of the tank as soon as possible other wise the other things in the tank will eat them and you'll never even see them, that's what happened to me both times :(...

I seriously hope it turns out for you Kevin, get the camera ready dude :D!

Haven't posted here in a while. Finally got around to dosing Flatworm Exit today. Everything looks great. All the red flatworms seem to be dead/gone, but some white/clear ones (which have always seemed to be harmless) are still left. I don't think I'm going to worry so much about the white/clear ones.

Wish I could have cleared up the whole Ich issue. I'm down to just my two clown fish and 1 chromis... It's disappointing, especially considering it's a 210g tank. I just have decided not to add ANY fish before taking care of the ich. I just haven't had the time, unfortunately, and I leave for school this Sunday. I'll have to figure out something.

But again, the flatworms so far seem to be taken care of. I will update that in a few days. Happy that the tank is nice and clean.

Hey man, good to hear about the flatworms!
Are you going to dose the tank 1 or 2 more times just incase? I've heard that it takes a couple of treatments to really get rid of them all? But maybe that's just for people with gigantic tanks, lol?

Those 3 fish must think they've got the entire ocean to themselves :p..
Good idea about the Ich too. Will it just disappear eventually, or can it survive without any fish hosts? I don't know to much about Ich..

Glad to hear that the tank is nice and clean, look forward to the second update on the flatworms :D!

Hey Mitchell.
I dosed 2x the recommended dosage, and was planning on doing another dosage in a few days, but I don't have anymore product lol. I may do it during my next waterchange when i come back home from school.

Ha yeah these three fish are troops for still being alive; they deserve such a huge tank lol.

The ich, from what I've heard, will always be in the tank so long as there are fish in it. There are no signs of ich on my 3 remaining fish, but it I'm sure will always be there. If I really want to get rid of it, I'll have to use copper treatment or hyposalinization in a separate tank on the 3 fish. In order to ensure that there's no ich in the display tank, I'd have to keep it "fishless" for something like 4-6 weeks. After 4-6 weeks of no host for the ich, it just dies off.

I'll definitely keep you (not like anyone is interested :lmao:) posted on the flatworms. Wish I could help out on your tank somehow.

Ahh, kk, cool. Yer, I reckon a dose during the next water change would be enough. That way also, you'll be able to tell if any sizable population of flatworms has built up again, and if so you'll know you might have to dose a bit more..

Lol, they shall treasure their free space till you come back from school and pop a few more in :p..

Ahh, ok, so as long as there is any form of fish in there it can survive.. Maybe when you come back from school you'll be able to move the fish out for 4-6weeks in to a QT tank or something?

I'm sure millions of people read, they just like to remain anonymous :p.. No probs man, my tank will get there eventually :)!

Wow I need to update this thread with some pics lol. Just looking back at it, I'm laughing at the size of my toadstool... Wait till you guys (well.. guy) see it now!

Psh you sure are proving me right! lol I'll take some if I head home this weekend. I need some more leathers!

Echooooooo Echoooooooo Echoooooooooo! Lol anyone there? I've got to post some updated pics. I haven't gotten much new livestock, but the previous things I have look nice and grown out, at least compared to my most recent pictures. Funny to see how things have changed. You don't really notice it until you look at old pictures.

Heh. . .as the owne of another one person thread, I am happy to let you know I'm here and waiting for pictures! Actually, you've already got double the traffic with a two person thread. :)

Ha awesome. Someone, finally! Lol I just took a bunch of pictures AND a video with my new camera. They'll be coming in minutes. Do you have a thread? You don't seem to have a homepage
