Keep Leopard Wrasse Quarantine?

So I purchased a leopard wrasse that was at my LFS for about two weeks and eating frozen brine (I saw it). I've had him in quarantine with sand for about 96 hours now and I immediately treated with prazi as these guys often can have intestinal parasites.

So far I have not had much luck of getting him to eat. I've offered frozen mysis, calanus, nutramar, and garlic brine (the same stuff the LFS feeds), and 4 types of pellet. So far he has shown no interest in any of the pellets, calanus, or nutramar. He seems moderately interested in the brine and mysis, but spits it out shortly afterward. I have witnessed him eat 2 small pieces of mysis and brine, but that's it so far.

I know prazi is an appetite suppressant, but I'm getting pretty worried with how long its been now.

After one more day he'll have had a full round of prazi, and about 3 weeks in total of not dropping dead from brook or velvet. I'm strongly considering adding him to the DT so that he might be able to find at least a little something to eat for now, and that hopefully watching other fish eat the same foods he might be turned onto them.

Alternatively should I do a large water change on the quarantine tank to remove the prazi after tomorrow, and keep him there and see if he starts eating?

Do you have a bowl of sand for him to sleep in? This might make him less stressed. I would not medicate a fish in quarantine until I have him settled and eating. IMO it is too many stressors at once. I would not add him to display tank. Period. Maybe try live food?

Theres a few inches of sand on the bottom of the quarantine tank. In retrospect I probably should have waited to medicate.

I'm not sure if anything in my area sells live foods other than maybe brine shrimp cysts.

I don't know if you will get them to eat in the QT, if they are not eaten prepared foods. If they are not eating, they are going to need some pods to get started. So you may have to take a chance and put him in the DT.

Yeah. I'm frustrated that even though I found one eating frozen at the store that it hasn't translated to eating at home.

About how many days after the prazi is gone will it take for normal appetite to return? I'm going to get it out of the prazi and see if I can get it eating in the next day or two. After that if its still not I'm going to just have to make a choice.

my leopard wrasee would only eat frozen brine, nothing else(from what I understand this is pretty common).. and sometimes he'd spit it out, I suspected it wasn't up to his quality standards or he was just eating parts of it. I'd keep up with frozen brine feeding, make sure water conditions are good.

Well good news! He actually ate some brine shrimp soaked in selcon today. I don't know if it was because of the selcon or the removal of the Prazi. Assuming he continues to eat I'll be keeping him in quarantine for another couple weeks to be sure he's clean.

Prazi does suppress appetites, so could have been it.
