Keep opening and closing

Hey guys,

Have had a frag of zoos (First ones I've ever owned) in my tank for about 1.5 months now.

They are always opening and closing through out the day.. More than half the time they seem closed. Never seen them all open at once.. Also almost ALWAYS seem closed when the lights go out.

Water params are decent. Working to improve a little.

Temp 77.5-79.5
Spec Gravity 1.024
pH 8.25-8.45
NH3 0
NO2 0
NO3 0
PO4 .08
Ca 380
ALK 7.6
Mg 1480

Lights on 8 hours a day, bright intensity on for 6 hours.
Zoos placed in middle of tank (height). Medium flow from MP40 and returns.
Other corals are doing well.

Haven't seen anybody bothering the zoos. Just some astrea snails on the rocks, but I don't think they really mind that too much.

Wondering what you think the issue is.

What is that thing surrounding the zoas on the pic?
Glue?
Coraline algae?

I don't think it's a big deal. I've had that happened before and stopped after a while.
I think some times they could do that when they are growing or releasing mucus, something part of their metabolism...
Your zoas look healthy to me.

Ya, a big wad of glue. That's how I got it.

Just a little disappointing b/c half of the are glosed in the pic. Would look so much nicer if all were open.

P.S. photo was taken with iphone. white balance is really far off, making everything look super blue!

Mine always close up tight for the night. During the day if they are disturbed or if food passes their way.

That's a waste of glue!!! LOL!!

No worries. like I've said before, they look fine to me.
They don't look sick nor weak. That's clear.
It's a small frag and IMO it's perfectly fine if the do that.

Try not to move it nor touch the plug.

Take a picture with a camera to show us it's real colors, if you wish.

Do they grab the food and close to eat it when it comes by?
