Keeping skimmer & chaeto in same compartment

A while back I broke down the refugium section of my sump because I wanted to have a skimmer and there wasn't room. Well, now I've had a GHA outbreak and I'm thinking maybe the chaeto was doing more than I thought. It's too late to add the baffles back because the sump is up and running so could I just leave it like this or will it cause problems? Thanks!

If that's the way you have to go there is no problem with it. Why not use some egg-crate cut exactly to size to separate the cheato?

I'd add something between the 2, keep the chaeto from getting sucked into the skimmer system

I would use a egg-crate with some mess over it so the cheato won't clog your skimmer.

The dead cheato or pieces will jam up your skimmer pump..
