Keeping top attached or unattached ?

This may be a really novice question but here goes. I have a jbj 28 gal led tank and the top is attached or can be attached to the tank. I have read some people do not attach the top to make maintenance easier and to allow for some brands or skimmer. So do I attach the top or not attach the top? What do you think ?

Assuming you have access to get to the back of the tank to remove the hinges at a future date I would start with the top attached. If you find it cumbersome to work around you could then remove the hinges.

I have the same tank....I ditched the hood and threw a kessil a-150 on it instead. much better and easier to deal with. Also have a tunze skimmer in the center chamber that is easier to deal with as well.
