Hello,
are Kelp and Wakame same, or better than nori to feed the tangs ?

I read that wakame contains omega 3 fatty acids ?

any info would be great.

From what I have read, Wakame is a particular species of marine algae; Undaria pinnatifida which as you mentioned is a rich source of omega 3 fatty acids.

Kelp is a pretty generic term which can apply to numerous species of marine algae.

Nori is also a generic term, but is usually reserved for edible marine algae which has (commonly) been roasted.

In my opinion, it is important to use raw/unroasted marine algae for feeding reef fishes. This ensures that the vitamins, minerals and other nutrients are preserved. Many aquarists like to rotate the color of the algae. My understanding is that between the different colors (species) there are varying nutrient contents. Blending or rotating algae helps to reduce the likelihood of a deficiency arising. Also, some reef fishes will show a preference for particular algal species. I've had good results with raw Porphyra yezoensis.
