kent float valve problem

Hi,

I have a kent float valve that sure looks great but doesn't shut off. It seems like it does, but really doesn't.

http://www.marinedepot.com/md_viewItem.asp?idProduct=KM1651

It was in Ed's closet RO storage tank and perhaps the 2 months out of water has affected it. I have it installed but slowly, almost imperceptably, the water level continues to rise.

Are there any adjustments I can make...gaskets to change, etc?

Many thanks... Andy

Maybe the rubber in it has dried out. After being wet for a while it should have sealed back up. Maybe its time for a replacment.

PS. When do you want to do some trading.

SOON.. been a whilrlwind the past week but things should be (hopefully) settled down this week and I can get some pics.

thx for the feedback

Quirky float valves are not really something I'd take a chance on. For the $15 I'd just replace it if you think there may be a problem with it- not worth risking a wet carpet or dead livestock for.

agreed with above. I am on my second or third Kent float valve. They only last a few years and then need replaced. I presume it is due to the fact they are made of plastic.

How about getting a ATO system. I have had one of my Tunze osmo's for 2.5 years and a reef fanatic for 3 years. Both are going to go another 3 years or so . All I ever have replaced is a pump for either one.
