Kessil A360WE Controller Schedule

I have a IM Nuvo Fusion 40 with one Kessil A360WE controlled by the Kessil Spectral Controller. The kessil sits about 4.5" off the top of the water and here is the schedule I run right now. I realize that's a little lower than recommended, but if I go any higher than that, I get a ton of light spillage on the walls/floor around the tank. To compensate for the height, you can see I've lowered my intensity.

Current stock in the tank is:
RBTA (more details below about this guy)

ORA Red Goniopora

I'm wanting to add a superman monti, but given my recent issues with keeping my RBTA happy...additions to the tank are currently on hold. The RBTA looked great when he arrived from Live Aquaria. He's been on the move since being added and has not looked great recently. He appears a dark brown color with this greenish color at the base of all of his tentacles. He's the main reason for my concern with my lighting schedule. Perhaps he's not getting enough light? I've tried feeding him some small pieces of silversides once a week or so. He's eaten once, but the other times spits them out.

The kessil a360s are a lot stronger than you think. I never run mine higher than 60 or so, sitting 8" off the water in a 48x18x20 rimless reef.

+1! 100% intensity is too much under most circumstances. At least for our corals unless they have been really well acclimated. Even then, I'd say 100% is too much. Heck, 80% at 4.5" off the water is an awful lot IMO and too much. These lights are much more powerful than people realize and they excel in the bluer spectrums where most of our corals photosynthesis occurs. This is also where the human eye doesn't perceive intensity well. As such, these lights are much more powerful than the eyes will perceive.

Guess I've been doing it wrong for the last 4 month's on my mixed reef and the info I rx'ed from Kessil that I can ramp it up slowly to 100% was wrong as well.

I have no idea what I should set it for. My poor corals have been under a par38 which is not nearly as bright as the kessil. So I will be using the acclimation setting. I guess I'll just keep trying schedules until I like one, no way I can set this puppy on anything over 75%, it's like surface of the sun!

I use the kessil controller and I don't have the color set higher than 50% but the brightness I have going to 100% for a good 5 hrs. Total time on 11 hours. Mind you my tank is 24"H

Things got busy for me for a while with a recent job change, but all is back to normal and finally have some time to get back on the forum. Thanks for the all the input.

Is there a reason not to ramp up to 100% color?

It's been more than a year since you posted this message. I'm wondering how things are doing with the kessil light. Picture would be awesome. I have a 90Gal 48x24x18 and I'm looking for that sweet spot for my two kessils.
