Kessil AP 700 Owners Gather Here!

So I've been playing around with my AP700 and I noticed that the Lunar Red color usually doesn't work in the manual mode and during simulation. Has anyone else noticed that? Is it a bug or is there an issue with my unit? I have occasionally gotten it to show up. Also, I noticed that sometimes when I pick the Lunar Blue effect manually that only one of the lights comes on. Normal?

Also, any chance that someone out there makes a visor for the AP700? This would be for reducing the visibility of the light pucks when sitting down and reducing the amount of light spillage in front.

man that must be quiet. I put these in today. Might take them back. Is the fan diameter 4.5"?

Pardon my ignorance but how do you plug in 3 pin?

Well the simplest way is just cut the wire and splice it to a 12v wall wart. You don't need to wire all 3 just hot and neutral. Hot is yellow wire.

If you want to not cut the ends on the fans to use later with pc or whatever else you can buy a splitter and connect the fans to that and then splice the other end of the splitter and connect to the wall wart.

So I noticed that if you make a shade for the AP700 that extends about ~5" down from it, you pretty much block all light spillage without impacting the light that hits the tank. I am not great at these types of things, but I'm going to try to put one together our of acrylic.

Sorry for my lack of computer skill but what is difference between phone and router? Why does 1 work and other does not? So iPad is using router?

Do you have an iphone or android phone? The ipad app is outdated now. The newest version of the software is on android or iphone.

The AP700 broadcasts it's own Wifi signal which you can connect to directly. But this means that every time you want to interact with it, you have to switch your Wifi connection to it. And when you are done, you have to switch back to your home network.

By connecting through you home network router (via Wifi), you can access the AP700 any time you are connected to your home network, without having to manually change the Wifi connection.

During initial set up, you have to connect directly to the light's Wifi signal to get started, and it will provide you the option to use the router instead.

Some have had trouble connecting through the home WiFi router to the lights, not initially but after. These are dependent on the signal strength between both devices, interference from other wireless devices, microwave, walls, lots of things can cause it. It's not a problem with the fixture or its WiFi capabilities, just the inherent and common problems of connecting via WiFi in general.

I don't think the software is very well done, but I'm sure most of that is user error. And there's no magic Kessil can do to make up for poor wifi coverage.

One quirky thing I noticed is that sometimes when you open the app it doesn't show your group/light. But if you hit the refresh button on the top right it immediately picks them up. I bet that alone accounts for many people that think it isn't working.

Maybe I guess, or could just mean the app needs more than one second to connect to the lights. I can see where folks coming from T5, VHO, MH, and ON/OFF switch to all this new stuff having problems.

I have iPhone just worried about getting wifi connection. Never have an issue with iPad getting signal hope lights are same.

Just connect directly to the lights from your iPhone or iPad. If your looking at your tank I'm sure there won't be any problems.

I was curious about that. Let me know if it works out!

Anyone with a 36 " tank? Kessil is showing 36" coverage at 5-7", don't want run canopy that low and worried about too much light spillage not room. Maybe too much light for 3 footer
