Kessil tells me my 350n's are normal, but I can't see them purposely not having leds in the middle of the matrix, and to my eyes the led's have shifted whiter, I run the blues at 100% and the whites about 60%. As you can see there is for sure a difference in my 2 350n's , the serial numbers are close and were bought at the same time from same seller.

I just got the replacement Kessil AP700 and I'm really perplexed why when I demo the lunar cycle the intensity of the blue is really low probably like 1-5%, but when I get off the lunar demo and put the blues on 3% (still the lowest percent they actually turn on) the intensity is much brighter than the lunar demo. Can we not dim these lights to their lowest level?

I think the moonlights are too bright also. I just don't use them because of that. Hopefully they somehow fix it with future firmware

I have been a Kessil A360we owner for over a year and half. Now thankfully I only use these to supplement my metal halides. Now while under warranty the customer service is top notch. My question for this group, has any of you had to deal with a failed unit out of warranty? My story is, I had two fail under warranty, and they shipped me new ones and told me to keep the old ones. I was shocked but was very happy. Since then, two more have gone just last weekend. I am out of warranty and completely understand that, but I emaiedl the company and asked if I could get these repaired as the cost of these up in Canada are $500 per unit. I was told no. So I have had a total of 7 lights and 4 failures in a year and half. That is not good. I did all the troubleshooting and its indeed the units. I love the look these lights give off, but I hate the fact that now I am sitting on $2000 worth of nothing in a very short time when these where suppose to last 5 years. Something to think about when buying the AP700. I am just trying to find out if this is just an outside of Canada thing or has anyone had to deal with this? Myself if I do go leds again, it will be EcoTech or AI at least you can get parts and upgrade them after the warranty period is over.

Sounds like you interrupted the firmware update. If you do that you can brick the unit. From time to time when upgrading firmware the unit may not be responsive. You can end up doing the samething to Apex, a cell phone, ect.... Next time just wait for unit to become responsive again.

Can more folks share AP700 FW upgrade tips and results? What have to do and what have to avoid? Many thanks in advance.,,

It has taken me awhile to understand the kessil and what works. I use to be at a color of 80% and a intensity of 90% on ramp.

But after research and trial and error, I have not only increased my intensity but lowered my color to a max of 45%, and could not be happier. My coral has really taken off. I will try to provide some pics of before and afters, but I can definitely tell a difference. Everything is much happier, and not slow growing as it was.

^^^^Glad to see other people not running their color over 50% and having success. I knew other people would follow what I've learned.

When you say color at 50% are you just talking intensity or actual color? I'm not sure I follow unless that's not a AP700 capability.

I have two 160's over my nano and have gone from 70% color to 35% color and my coral is looking better. Also, the lower the % of color, the better the PUR % is. I have a Seneye Reef in my tank and can monitor the PAR and PUR #'s. When the color is below 30%, the PUR % is 80%+. When I peak at 35% color, the average PUR level is 76-79%. My peak intensity is 65% right now, but I'm slowly increasing the % every other week. BTW, I bought the spectral controller, my apex was giving me some problems (different voltage?) and one light was dimmer than the other, no matter which one was first is the chain. As soon as I connected the SC to the lights, that all went away.

Yes it is. Plus, now I have two open ports on my apex for more powerheads. I liked running them using fusion, very easy to program, but I wasn't doing anything fancy and I benefit more having v1-2 ports open.

looking to set up a 120gal coral tank with kessil lighting wondering how many 360w or AP700 I would need on the tank? can you help

tank size:72x18x21

I emailed Kessil about number of light reccomendations for a 72/30/24 tank and they said 2 if mixed reef. 3 if sps dominant. Sound right? Would it be enough depth (front to back) if I used the stock mount and mounted them parallel to the tank? Wouldn't mounting them perpendicular to the tank make more sense?

Hello, new guy here.

Building up to my first SW tank. I'm going with a JBJ 30g rimless (if I can get one in that's not smashed). I had ordered a Halo SW deluxe but my LFS talked me out of it and into a Kessil A160WE as all of his display tanks are mostly 55g and have 2 A160WEs over each. So I ordered 1 A160WE with a gooseneck, 90° adapter, and spectral controller since the dimensions on my tank will be 23.?"x19.?"x16.?"

Now reading here makes me think I should return the 160 and get an A360WE.

My goal is to ease into reef keeping with easier stuff, but I like some mushrooms, psychedelic zoas, hammers, and brains. I would like to eventually have a crazy blue maxima clam.

Thoughts?

I have two 160's over a 23x12x14 that's mostly sps and I'm only at 65% intensity. I think adding a second 160 will reduce shading and cover everything nicely.
Just my two pennies.

Has anyone daisy chained 2 types of kessils on the same program using kessil controller. I currently run 2 a360we and would like to daisy chain a kessil a160we to my existing a360we rather than put the a160we on a separate program. Any thoughts?

You're better off daisy chaining the two 360's together on one port and use the other port for the 160. Reason being, you're not gonna run the same intensity as the 360's? Just a thought.

I also ran 2 160s on a 16" cube to reduce shadowing for sps and have had good growth. Just moved everything over to a 40g breeder and just ordered a 360 for the middle and will have the 160s on the outsides. That should have enough light sources to really reduce shadowing in the middle.

Kessil sending me 2 new 360N's , so when did kessil change their warranty from 2 years to 1 ? I just noticed that.
