Kessil Club

Why a Kessil Club? because Kessil is probably one of the most underrated, least spoken of lights on the market that are considered one of the big names. I would like to start a thread for all kessil owners. I myself own 4 a360w.

please share your tanks, your lights, your livestock, progress etc. Hopefully if there are any issues with the lights we can stand together and help each other out

Great idea. I'm running a pair of a350's over a 90g softie/LPS tank for about a year. I'm running them at 60/60 for 8hrs. but I'm starting to bump them up of late. Growth has been slow or nota. Granted I had to move the tank twice in the last to years due to moving. I would still like to know what most people are running these at for intensity. I've read several posts about frying corals by turning Kessils up to high. My lights are about 6" above the surface and corals start out at about a foot below sea level.
On the positive side I love the shimmer and being able to have these hang above the tank and not blasting light on everyone in the room. The light shimmer on the ceiling looks cool.

I have a pair of 360we on my standard 90g. I really love these lights. They are controlled by my apex and ramp up to a 65% max int, and 100% color. I'm planning to slowly increase intensity to around 70% max and turn the color down a bit to probably 85-90%. The controllability when paired with the apex is awesome. I have a few feed modes set up that change my lights for pictures or to show off to friends.

Here's an FTS from a couple minutes ago:

I'm running a pair of A350s over my 120g (4x2x2) and a single A350 over my 34g Solana cube. When the Solana's light came in I held it over the 120 and realized that while two work quite well, three is really ideal for even, bright lighting. I also noticed that, because of all of the overhangs in my aquascape, I get more shadowing than I'd like. I decided that a little T5 lighting would do the trick. It's not needed for growth, or for much color IMO, but while it fixes the shadowing, it will improve growth and color.

I snagged a used 8 bulb light from a member here and punched holes where the middle two bulbs go. 4 of the sockets were wired for very weak LED T5 tubes, I'm I'm going to remove those and wire them to the ballast that drove the middle bulbs. Right now I'm running a Purple+ up front, the Kessils and a Blue+ in the rear. I have a few bulbs to use when I rewire the light to get the best color (Coral+, Blue+, 2x Actinic+, True Actinic).

Here are some pics of the beta model, the tank with just the Kessils and my Solana. I run the color balance almost 1:1 on the knobs, just a little heavier weighted to the blue.

Kessil only

I've got 8 Kessil 360WE's over my 480g display. It's 4'x8'x2' tall. The lights are controlled by my Apex. My tank is primarily soft corals with some LPS mixed in. My corals love the lights and so do I.

I'm running 3 A160we's over a 120gal (60"x18"x24"). Using the Kessil Spectral Controller with color at 100% and intensity at 80%. Tank is set up as a FOWLR tank. If I decide to get into coral I'll probably upgrade to some 360we's.

Holy cow they all look good. I just finished making a fixture withe a friend of mine lol. I'll post a pic when the lights are on.

I would not call Kessil underrated.

They are very very popular and one of the best selling LED's out there.

I know a ton of people who have them.

I have

A150 10K Sky Blue
A150 15K Ocean Blue
A150 20K Deep Ocean Blue Actinic

I will be getting an A160 soon.

And then the Spectral Controller after that.

I would say they are. They get shadowed by radions or mitras, and ai

By the way, here's an updated pic!

That coraline algae looks super annoying to deal with

I've got a single kessil A360WE over my shallow 2foot nano. Corals are SPS mainly with a few softies. Tank runs with no sump or skimmer, just a reactor running activated carbon, and occasionally rowaphos, and regular water changes. Tank has been running for about 3-4 months. Coral colors are ok but improving as I'm finally beginning to register a little nitrate. I think my nutrients were too low to start with as my sps lost colour at first but are now improving and growing. Love the kessil to pieces

I know a lot more people with Kessil than Radion or AI.

I do not know anybody with Mitras.

I don't even know where to get a Mitras.

They are made outside the U.S. and I do not know if they are even imported in.

I bet Mitras is Huge in Europe though.

Also, every LFS that I have ever been too sells Kessils.

That is a huge boost for sales as you can see them in person and buy them right away without waiting to have something shipped in.

And they are cheaper too.

Owned a A150W a while back, great light, don't know about it being not appreciated on the forums, hard to find a thread on what lighting to buy without them being recommended . But I like clubs, lets see more pictures.

Wow.... That's all I have to say

Running 2 a360we over my standard 75g rimless 48X18X20 reef. Love these lights!

my tank is relatively new at only 2 1/2 months old. Excited to fill her up with coral.

It is as it grows like crazy in my tank but I let it get away from me which won't happen again. I've been making great progress on it over the last month. I've knocked it bag significantly. Over the next couple weeks, it should be pretty much completely gone from the viewing panes. Then I'll be able to keep it at bay with my Algae Dozer coraline pads for my Mighty Magnet scrubber.

Here is an updated picture of my set up. Sand was added last night

I'm on a tablet so I can't post a pic yet but I have 2 A360NEs over my 36x18x24 65g. Still acclimating everything to the lights (the tank is an upgrade) but so far so good. Everything was grown under 3w Bridgelux LEDs prior to this and I had some browning as the controller wasn't working right; but it's been 2.5 weeks now and I can see improvement in my blue stag, which is coloring up again. I LOVE the shimmer and yes, even the shadowing. I use a USB 10-LED light bar as a moonlight; I put blue vinyl over the middle 8 LEDS and it looks just like moonlight at night, not too blue, with a lot of shimmer. Will post a pic and video of that too. :)
