Here's a 4 ft tank lit with only 2 360's (mine)

Do you see a shadow in the middle?

Neither do I .. The middle is where my most light loving corals live. (stylo sps in my case)
Yes... Your tank is the exact one I had in mind sorry to say. You have a blatant shadowed triangle in the middle of the tank. Unless that's just the pic, but it seems to me like your light is sort of like a ven diagram where two points of the circular light meet in the middle, but do not cover the full space front to back.

haha .. you guys are funny

My tank is doing fine as you can see with only 2 360's .. and there is no shadow in the middle as you can plainly see. It gets light from both units in the middle. Thats why my stylo is there and doing well. That stylo started out as 1.5" frags ..its now 5" across, and it was grown entirely in the middle.

I chose my tenants based on what I like to see in my tank .. complain away about them, I dont care. I happen to very much like a mixed reef.

And there is DEFINITELY no shadow in the middle. I have a 3rd 360 for a backup, but I dont use it because I dont need it.

lol..there is no shadow on the corals, blatant or otherwise. I dont know what you are seeing in that pic, but its not a shadow on any corals. If you saw the tank in person you would agree. From a different angle:

The reason there is no light on the back panel is because it IS shaded (from the halfway point and up)..with a shade I made myself so I wouldnt have to clean the glass as often. Same for the front glass and sides, they are shaded as well. Front glass is fully shaded right to the bottom, clean it about once a month, if that, because nothing grows on it. The corals are in full light.

Tell me which corals are shaded please. I have never run these lights above 90%

Stylo frags about a month after got them, 1.5":

Would I run an acro tank that way.. probably not. I'd add my 3rd 360 if I liked colored sticks. Acro's have nothing to recommend them over any other coral. As a matter of fact, they will be your first losses should anything go wrong, no matter which light you use.

Only a fractional difference in the middle versus directly under.
Certainly not what I would call a "shadow". Shadow would be more what you would get at the corners.

The difference in penetrating light to the bottom is night and day. On my 22 deep tank the same par at top resulted in over 50% less par on the 360s then the ap700s.

You were using a meter with a known design flaw at the time you took the readings on the 360's, correct?

Could you please post a recent pic of your tank?

The design flaw would have 0 to do with the difference between the 2 readings. All the design flaw did was make it read low. 50% difference is 50% difference. Same meter was used on both lights. Apogee gave me a new one since then.

Pics about 6 months old, I'll get a new one. Has grown out a lot.

pffffft .. why would BRS bother putting that graph together if it was useless?

See the post above yours where people are noticing how petty some of you are being ?

Edit: I've not yet commented on Thors tank .. and I purposely did not reply to your petty insult (Hey, there is at least one stick of stylo in there) because you have done this before. Silly comments, baseless insults, etc.
Are you here to pick fights?

Please show us all your reef. It must be pretty spectacular.

Go ahead comment on my tank. Over 110 frags , almost all thriving with everything from basic mushrooms to high end chalices and sps. Comment away

I'll comment. It looks pretty damn good, nice work . No one is disputing the AP700s ability. It's a really really nice light. Some just prefer the attributes of the time-tested A360 form factor.
