Kessil Club

I am not going to lower myself to your level with petty insults about your tank as you did mine.

I try to stay above that nonsense.
There was zero insult intended. It was simply a statement based on what i could see and data collected from extensive testing with the 360s and the ap700s.

Your tank looks good. I simply don't see any high PAR acros in the picture. Maybe there are some. And for the data part I stated you will have almost no light in the corners of a 48" tank at the bottom with 2 360s. That's it.

You have a blatant shadowed triangle in the middle of the tank.
A 4' tank lit with an AP700 looks great and if you space 2x360s out further, they look like crap
Yes... Your tank is the exact one I had in mind sorry to say.

I must have taken that the wrong way. You must have meant to say something positive about it. No prob.

Enjoy your tank ..I enjoy mine.
Now can we stop this nonsense pls?

Have no idea what nonsense u are talking about. Once again, corals I can see in a photo, doesn't look like acros needing high PAR and fact that corners will not get light. Where's the nonsense??

The nonsense from you is quoted.

And did I not already say "Acro's have nothing to recommend them over any other coral. As a matter of fact, they will be your first losses should anything go wrong, no matter which light you use."

Move on pls. Insulting someone's tank sight unseen is rather silly.

Still not seeing any nonsense, maybe u can point it out? Facts are not nonsense.

Told u it looked good. You simply have no comprehension of lighting requirements and are trying to lead others down your path with lack of knowledge.

Pointing out:

Nonsense.

More petty nonsense.

On a more colorful note:

Love that Kessil blue. This colony has been fragged three times ..one is right behind the main colony and the other is in the extreme upper right hand of the reef. The other I gave away.

Closeup pic of first candycane frag in upper right of my reef:

Chalice also in the upper right of tank:

And 3 of my 21 blue mushrooms. I started with 5 and as they gradually got adjusted to my higher light situation than from whence they came (a friends tank), they did well. Growing tips of stylo's extreme left:

Neither of those quotes were by me Einstein.

Looks good, all.low light corals however.

low light corals however.

100% of what I want to keep. Some SPS are now "low light corals" I guess.

Another low light sps coral growing over half way down my reef, one of three frags when I first got them. They came from a dealers shallow water tank running directly under Gen3 Pro's:

Same ones not long ago, I am hoping the bottom two continue to merge, and then into the upper one for a decent colony eventually:

Low light digitata frag when I first got it:

The secret is to not have any comprehension of lighting requirements and a complete lack of knowledge.
haha .. lighten up guys, its only a hobby

Yes those are low light sps just like setosas and most montis.

I agree with u, many of the Lps and softies are every bit as spectacular as sps.

Problem is u are trying to tell someone who wants sps dominate that 2 360s on a 48 is fine. It won't come close.

24" is the maximum length of his tank actually. 2 ft cube if I recall
Its mine that is 48" long.
And with two, he could grow everything I can ..more easily too. He only has to cover a 24" square and can place/point them anywhere he'd like.

I've thrown out so many plating monti's and birds nests that I refuse to put them in my tank anymore.
They just grow way too fast and the monti's shade.

Here's some monti that I had to get rid of, it started growing into the digitita and acans, irritating them and me .. and shaded below so I turfed all monti's:

And some healthy pocci's:

Enjoy your tank, I enjoy mine. The ap700 was not avail when I set up my tank but its doing fine nonetheless.

Edit: I also enjoy my fish very much. I have 13 in there .. a little yellow tang, 3 chromis, 3 cards, 1 matted file fish, 1 gold stripe maroon clown, and a few various damsels. I've lost one fish in two and half years with this reef, a chromis that evaporated or something. All others are two years old or older. Been reefing since '89 .. and yes I'm that old, 63. Beats dying young all to h3ll. ;)

I have a question for anybody ..

Why are 360's still the same price they've always been?

Because they haven't released a successor. No light fixture drops in price until they are replaced by a newer version. Giesemann Spectra/Infiniti have been around forever, still the same RRP.

I have a question I would like to have two Kessil A160 Tuna blues over my 4ft 90gl fowlr aquarium, but I wouldn't like it if I could with a spectral controller set them for at night to work as moon lights? Also is there anyway to automate to after a certain time to dim down as moonlights?
