they use dry shipping on snails and crabs would they be ok if I wasn't able to acclimate until after work on the delivery day? My brother-in-law can float them I would just release them when I got back around 5:30 that evening

Everytime that I have ordered from a company that dry ships their critters, I have been told that the only thing needed is temperature acclimation. I'm sure that some salinity acclimation wouldn't hurt, but I don't believe it is needed for dry shipments.

If you float them where they won't be directly under the lights, they should be fine until you get home. Or, just have your brother in law dump them in.
