KILLER whales

i did a research paper on whales in captivity and it is just a matter of time until the orca and or dolphin turn on their trainers. these are both extremely intelligent aquatic mammals and should not be held in captivity! seaworld always says its for "scientific research"! thats total BS! if they didnt have these dolphin and whale shows their revenue would go crashing down and possibly go out of business. orca and dolphins sonar bounce off the cement walls in their "aquariums" and literally drive the mammals insane and cause other mental and physical health issues. Seaworld also says that the dolphins and whales are incapable of being rereleased into the wild which is also BS! there have been whales and dolphins who have been retrained to thrive in the wild... do some research people and boycott seaworld!.....rant over.

definitely some food for thought....but i do know that there is scientific research that proves that animals born in captivity, breed in captivity, while they still maintain certain traits of their species, do no do well if released into the wild.

I'm not a save the whales type person at all..But I have no problem with them eating a handler once in a wile..

They are two damn big and smart to keep in tanks and made to do tricks 5 times a day..

So Bon Appetit Shamu :)

yeah, I watched a special about an orca (possibly the only orca) that was released into the wild, and it mostly just hung around in a harbor trying to interact with people. very sad.

to the original question, HELL NO. they should do the responsible thing and keep it in captivity for the rest of its life, even if it can't be part of some ridiculous sideshow.

I saw this in another reef site already and I didnt post but now that Ive had a few with dinner ill chime in . I hate when I see them punish animals for harming human beings who knowingly put themselves in danger. The tiger in San Diego a few years back, the polar bear (mandy) in buffalo after that idiot stepped over the gate put his arm through the enclosures bars to get an up close photo then lost his arm. Now they have black chicken wire so no one get get a nice shot. Do people not watch discovery channel anymore??? Ive seen killer whales on there tear through seals that are larger, faster, meaner and sometimes smarter than most people i know. Wouldn't catch me in the same tank as a killer whale. especially one with that whales rap sheet. JMO There is a word for those people who like to see animals harmed for defending themselves and now there appears to be a smiley for it too... :mtool:

Kill that thing, and feed the poor. It'll make nice soup.

Apparently this one had a violent history with trainers. Why was it kept around at all?

Steve

Maybe your right and maybe Roy and Siegfried should sue that white tiger and get some pain and suffering $$$ too. LOL Seriously, if your dumb enough to play with fire then no one should cry when you get burned. Thats like repeatedly getting in a car with a drunk driver who is legally blind. Maybe youll get home safe a couple times but sooner or later theyll be scraping you off the pavement and as it usually goes, the drunk blind guy will probably walk away unharmed

Animals are just that, animals. There are certain species that are domesticated but not all and I'm not sure why humanity feels that all can become "domesticated". I am a firm believer that there are certain animals that just should not be held captive. Ever. Once humans go against that and keep them in unnatural surroundings they must be prepared to deal with the consequences. To answer Gary's question... I agree with Flanders. That would be the responsible and ethical thing to do if there is no chance it can be released into the wild and survive.

should they put a KILLER whale to sleep for doing what it's designed to do?

what did i miss? did an orca eat someone?

Which clown bit you this time Gary????

Spare me people, go run on the African plains and see how long you last.....

Yes, it's unfortunate, but only a matter of time before a whale, shark, tiger, or pit bull kills, but since evolution has programmed all of us for survival it's inevitable that a "slip" happens and we revert to the primal skills bullt in.

couldn't i put someone else on the african plains and see how long they last before i try it???? just asking.

I say we hold a class at SeaWorld for all the dimwits in the world who think they can get up close and personal with wild animals without getting harmed (including that jackazz that lived with the Grizzlies in Alaska for like 10 years before they ate him and his girlfriend alive). Give them all a number and tell them its for a special prize. Pick a number, and gather everyone around the pool, and lock the doors behind them. Then push the "winner" in the pool with Shamu, and let them all watch what happens.

I'm guessing these clowns will have a new respect for WILD animals.

I dont agree with that statement about pib bulls. A friend of mine raises them and they are the sweetest animles I have ever come across. Just because a few people like Michael Vick raise them to be killers doesnt mean that all pit bulls are. If they are raised properly they can be great pets, they are even great with kids. I bet more people get scratched or bit by house cats than attacked by pitbulls.
