killing bristleworms

my sh tank has a lot of bristleworms. Whats a good to kill them all?

You can take a plastic container, like tupperware that is completely sealed, put a piece of dead fish from a market or even cooked shrimp or something to attract the worms into the container. Take a razor and cut an X about the size you think your worms are (bristle worms can make themselves very skinny by stretching out) then push the X inward so that the worm can get in but not out. Or you can take a turkey baster and suck them out, but my personal experience with that method didn't work but it does work for some. Or you can use tweezers, but be careful of your hand. You can buy traps as well, but making them is simple. I use some fish food for bait. The spines take forever to work there way out of your skin! Heed Surreal's words and be very careful.

I just stand near the tank at feeding time with a pair of long handled tweezers and take out as many as I can.

i made one out of a little black film container. it did work that well i only caught 2. the tweezer thing didn't work either. i think im just going to replace the sand and dry out my live rock.

I heard about this from my lfs store recently (haven't tried it yet though plan to soon). Take some unscented nylon, wrap it loosely around some food and a rock to weight it down. The bristle worms supposedly will go after the food but then get stuck on the nylon. Haven't tried it yet but seems like it would work without catching unwanted victims of the trap.

Arrow Crabs will eat them. You could try that.

yea i had a lot and just got an arrow crab and he's being going to work on them

Yes, arrow crabs will eat bristle worms, but they are not something that I would trust with a seahorse. The ones that I have had were all ornery buggers that would eat anything slow enough to catch.

We've got a scooter blenny in our sh tank that ate all the bristle worms.

Just curious as to why you don't want them.

removing the lr and placing it in sw with high salinity draws them out of the rock
