Gunna be a weird post been meaning to do this for a while so i'm going to start from the beginning and get to the present. my iphone crashed while updating so i lost ALOT of pics but hopefully i can steal them off my Instagram so i can start from the beginning!
So it's been a few year out of the hobby. I have a 65 gallon tank in my old bed room empty and I've been getting the itch for a new tank. So after ample drooling and searching and reading, I decided I wanted a nuvo 16 loved the rimless look and its just the right size i wanna shoot for. so after a **** load of bargaining i managed to get the tank new in the box with lights and 20 lbs of LS and 20 of salt for $180!!!! returned the salt for 30 bucks store credit and lets just say I stole this one for 150! Craigslist for the Win #buyoftheyear. next to my $130 ipad mini! So let the games begin. I got the tank and set it up, grabbed a stand from pet smart on sale for 70$ bow front one thought it be cool to have a little lip on put stuff on. with rocks from my old tank and stock lights. (die off bit me but not bad) got all my water from a local store's display tank and used 13-15 lbs of live sand. In the back i'm running stock media trays. the IM reactor a purigen, chemi pure elite mini and live rock. I also have a ball of caulerpa in the back on top of the live rock. I let the tank go a week or so and added my first hermits and a few snails. Had a bit of diatom break out it went away quickly with a water change. Found a local guy selling the ebay Evergrow lights for cheap and figured what the heck better than the stock and gives me time to save for what i really want. And besides wishing I spent the 50 bucks more for a programable one I love the lights 16inch full spec covers the whole tank nicely. Got them hung after a little trail and error and there great! Went big for my first fish and got a spotted mandarin. Knowing I didnt want to get a cycle fish and have to tare down my display I found one a my LFS and made them feed him, he ate and I took him knowing full well what I was getting into with their needs. I then went through a bit of trail and error on a pair of clowns. Started with a Picasso pair and they fought swapped the aggressor a davinci and he fought too. Got lucky and got full credit for them and swapped for a pair of ultra black ice clowns. LOVE them!! I've added some sps and zoes as well a ora red and blue goni. Few weeks later I upgraded the return pump to a Sicce nano. Added a cleaner shrimp soon after the a two spot wrasse. Added a few corals since Hawkins pink elephants, jedi mind trick. my latest find had been a baby midas blenny and some rasta zoes and a baby bonsai sps All is well and happy searching for those show stopper frags to fill the few places I have left. Ill have Pics posted as soon as i upload them from my phone to my mac.
