Kole tang for detritus on rocks

Would a kole tang be a good candidate for my clearing detritus covered rocks? I have a 125 g, 6 foot tank, so he would have some room to swim. My research here turned up lots of comments about kole's and tomini's being the best. My tank has plenty of flow and i use a turkey baster to blow off the rocks, but many spots i just can't reach and even spots with very high flow still have detritus.

Anyone with experience?
thanks!

You and I have this issue in common. The kole may help. I've heard of them eating poop straight out of another fish, and they graze rock all day.

I just read your other thread about your goby getting the rock dirty in the first place. After buying snails and urchins, and a couple hundred dollars in powerheads to increase my flow, I ended up simply buying a $1.00 toilet bowl scrubber, and went to work. I was able to clean the rocks without removing them. The stuff came right off. Just make sure you do it with the powerheads off, and vacuum your sandbed when you are done.

Then, as usual, eliminate the cause of the detrius covered rocks in the first place...

What kind of detritus are you talking about? Koles mostly graze film algae, while they will eat meaty foods and other things.

Yeah i'm definitely going to keep at it with a brush.......

The detritus in the picture in my OP. I keep reading that detritus is part of a Koles natural diet. Is this not the case?

My kole tang will eat anything including detritus. I will say they prefer the green stuff over detritus but will often nibble at it as he's passing by.
Best tang by far at keeping tank clean of unwanted algae, and I have a hippo and a yellow.

My brother had a kole tang at one point and it was by far the best grazing tang ive ever seen. All day long it spent picking away at the rockwork without predjudice to algae or detritus. Not to say every kole tang is the same but his was like a hoover vacum cleaner!!
