thats all for now lol. but after first of the month i will have more to follow. including my stand and canopy in its raw form, and i will be staining it. my sump in its raw form, and the contructions of my sump/fuge.

oh i will get the obligatory kid in tank pic when mines gets home from school as well. just HAVE to get that shot taken too.

Nice, I wish I could afford to set up something about that size right now.

I know a few people with parts laying around so if you get in a bind let me know and I will check around and see who has what.

Very cool - Good luck witht the staining process. Before you do I highly recommend REMOVING any remaining glue if used to assemble pieces. I swear I though I had but the stain certaily knows there's glue there and where it isn't!!!!

thanks guys, Boviac i will be sure to go over the stand in great detail. i really want this to be beautiful. i have swore to myself i will never part ways with this reef!

Brian, thanks for the heads up on parts. if i need help i will come to you for sure. here is a short list of the equipment i am planning to order.

Reef Octopus Extreme 250
Protein Skimmer Here

return pump 1262 Universal Water
Pump by Eheim Here

flow- MP-40W GEN 2 Vortech
Propeller Pump Here

i already own 2 Korillia 3's so i will add those in the tank as needed.
those will the vorteck gives me 37.5 turnover not including the sump, but i want the sump a slow flow anyway shooting for 5x turnover ish.

Lighting - 3 X 250W HID MH Retrofit Here

i have bought fromt hese guys for years, they are great and i have learned there is no need to pay extra for popular brand names with these guys. i will also add in t-5's at a later date, i may end up buying sunlight supply on those however.

my sump is a 60 gallon custom made glass aquarium, carl has it ordered for me. it is 48x18x16. i will be making a nice large fuge in this sump. another reason i want slow flow, not to mention i hate micro bubble problems in the return.

I have 60 lbs of fiji LR i will be using, and ordering another 90 lbs Here

i also plan on getting a decent controller to run a quality heater. that is going to get me started and i will have pictures to show every thing i do, including contruction of my sump and the staining of my stand.

Nice detail list. Quite the purchase list there as well!

Yes with how often the heater needs to cycle on/off, a quality controller to ensure it works is essential. Already this season a few people in Sac have lost or nearly lost most of all their livestock. Considering how much you have investing in corals and fish and electric costs over time... isn't paying around $100+ for proper and confidence in temperature control worth it?

One of the guys who had tripple redundancy (heater control, Ranco Controller, System Controller) had such a failure. Unfortuantely, the system controller was down for repairs and the Ranco failed ON and I don't remember why the heater itself failed but between the two resulted in 90F water. :eek2:

Something so simple but so catastrophic should it fail either way.

I just have two 250W heaters set to 81F plugged into an X10 appliance module via an AquaController 2 (I'd like to move to a DC2, DC4, DC8 for more reliable control). So right now the ACII controller dominates. Should it fail ON (unlikely) then it falls back to the heaters internal controll at a setpoint of around 81F, and then should the temp go beyond that the fan/chiller go on in stages, and then the lights go off in stages, and then finally, an alarm comes on. Boy I've rambled on here... Anyway, good call on the decent controller... :D

oh yes i almost forgot, i ordered a premium ro/di from buckeye field supply, sorry guys i know some of you believe tap is okay here in redding, but i disagree i want top water quality.

i will post pics on my next day off, and when i get some of my new toys to show. as far as my stand goes, it's beefy but not top of the line looking like some of these guys make, but im having fun.

my skimmer has not shipped yet, reef specialty said Friday or no later than monday. also i have my megaflow kits en route from fosters with a few more goodies. i will be adding two vortex pumps to this tank as well. by the end of june tank will be up and running with everything and coral being added.

as far as my lighting goes, those t-5's are intense like halides you can't look at the bulbs it hurts your eyes, im pretty happy with those. but i will be replacing bulbs when i add sps with high end bulbs per grim.
