I have two questions about Laguna pump, Please help, thank you.

1. My new tank is 100*100*50 (high)cm, I will have 3cm sand inside of the tank and I am looking for Max-Flo 900 Waterfall & Filter Pond Pump. Max flow rate is 900 U.S. GPH 3400 LPH. Pump will be used for return (1.5 ft return),Is it too strong for this tank ?

2. Are Laguna Max-Flo 900 pump salt water safe ?

I love my laguna pump. They are salt water safe. As far as flow, you have to decide what you want. A general guidline is 3 to 4 times tank volume. Some like 4 to 6 depending on what you are trying to do.

Thank's for the help all. One more question. What's different between Laguna Max-Flo 900 & Laguna Powerjet 900 pump?

I have that pump, how many US gallons is your tank?
It's about 130-160US gallons. I will use one 3/4 tube
as return. Do you think it's okay for the 3cm sand bed ?

AFAIK, they are the same pump. The Powerjet has a different outer shell, quick disconects and comes with a couple pond- related accessories. I actually have the Powerjet but I believe thay are the same pump.

If that is your only pump it will not be enough I have that pump as my second pump on my 120 with a 30 gallon sump, I sometimes use it as my night time pump and shuf off the other pump, it does not use much elect.

Dave, thank's.

The tank I think will be 80 gallon and sump around 50 gallon. I don't have any experience about this pump. I only afraid the pump is too strong to 3cm sand.
I will have two more tunze 6065 pumps in the tank. It's about 130 cm tall from the sump to the top tank. Moondoggy4 what's your suggestion? Max-Flo 900 or Powerjet 1300? Thank you.

When you gave the gallons I thought that you had a 160 gallon DT, I think you should be OK with your tank. There was a guy on a blog that had a 90 gallon cube and had a Max flo 1800, I guess it depend on how much water you want going through your sump for a while I really limited mine and now I got it about max flow going through there. I like using two return pumps.
