Wow...don't show Kara. ;)

Now that we have the light for our tank, we'll finally be able to order coral (after we get the bubble algae problem under control). I can see a big hole in our bank accounts in the near future. :D

Haha :)

Well, Im sure I'll be dealing with some kind of algae break-out in the near future.

And..that's the only bad thing about both parties enjoying this hobby...alot of spending from both wallets. lol

Very nice zoas. :D

Thanks! I really hope they look as good in my tank as they do in the pic!

Did some aquascaping tonight, moved the heater, added 3 pieces of rock, mounted the power strip and light timer below the stand, and changed out around 10 gallons of water with water from my display tank. Her SG is at 1.023 right now, so that will need to be buffed up over the next few days.

Also, broke out the PAR meter... she's around 80 just under the surface of the water, 60 middle depth, and 45-50 on the sandbed. I'll probably move the light down until she hits 200 just under the surface of the water.

I need to talk to Keith about a probe holder for her ACjr. I should be able to use magnets, and discretely hide it behind the rocks. Mounting the float switch for her ATO is also something I plan on doing, but need to check if the ACjr is compatible with the I/O breakout box or not. I honestly forget.

The tank is starting to look pretty nice. Those 3 pieces of rock were exactly what the scape needed. We should really thank whoever suggested that. :rolleye1:

Now all that is left is to get Laura to pull that darn HOB filter off the tank!

The skimmers I am considering for the tank are the Warner Marine H1, or the Octopus BH-1000 or 2000. All are HOB obviously, but the pumps are located outside of the aquarium. Also, Warner Marine is supposedly getting ready to release a Gen2 of the H1 which has a bubble plate incorporated in the design.

i have heard great things about both those skimmers i would have a hard time choosing between them. i would prob go with the one that is quieter lol

Yeah I like how the Octopus pump is outside the skimmer body though, but surface skimmer attachments make me nervous since we don't have an ATO hooked up yet. I would imagine both pumps would run quietly, but I would probably need to fabricate a better silencer for the air intake.

yeah now that you mention it the surface skimmer wouldnt be the best idea untill the ATO is hooked up. but i run my 30 gallon sumpless and something that really bugs me is how nasty the water on top of the tank looks since i dont have surface skimming.

Ok. The octopus skimmers say they can run on a tank up to 90 gal and 120 gal. My tank is 15 gal. I dont think I need all that. And your telling me the cheapest skimmer I can find for my tank is going to be $150? Thats more money than I've spent on everything so far!

Any more options people?
