LAK's 15g Cube

Yeah I probs should have mentioned we didn't have a filter on it yet..but I didn't even know I needed one lol.

Tj is obviously the brains of this project. lol

The filter is only for temporary use. The water would eventually clear on its own. I like to run them after adding sand, redoing aquascaping, or cleaning the substrate... anything that clouds up the tank. They just help clear the water in an hour or so vs. waiting overnight, a few days, etc... Once the water is clear, the filter is removed, cleaned out and stored away until next time.

hooked up a hob filter after i set up the 30 gallon for the same reason, i took it off line after a couple of days
then a couple of months later i had to hook it up again after i got the diamond goby in the tank. After a week of sand stirring i took it off again.

That's exactly what my plan is... I'll be buying a AC70 to run to clear the sand... Then i'll clean it. Then i'll run it again to seed it with bacteria so I can then run it as a bio filter on my QT tank :)

Glad to hear that the tank is full of water. I find that running the powerhead actually clears the cloudiness up quicker, I would turn it back on if I were you until TJ can take a closer look.

im glad to hear that your having trouble with cloudy water because this whole build has been waaay too easy for you!

just kidding, keep up the good work you two... :)

Haha thanks guys.

I'm heading off to class right now (saturday...8am? fun fun)...but I'll take some pics when I get home!

I'm pumped about my aquascaping!

one page back...

Tj brought the tank to my house last night and we started to set it up. I still need to make a few purchases before we get water into it ,though. He has some corals coming this morning, but either later today or tomorrow I'm going to pick up a heater, powerhead, sand and some rock (have a few pieces I bought sitting in Tj's system already) and then were good to go. I'll be picking up a skimmer eventually, too.

I think TJ might have a heater and a powerhead that I can use so hopefully I'll be able to save some cash. This has been a very inexpensive build thread though, since he had so much stuf laying around and I didn't have to pay for any labor . I'm very thankful for that.

The 14k bulb he gave me for my pendant looks like it's going to be awesome. He might be regretting that decision now .

I'll post some pics of it filled soon!

Ok I am going to attempt to put these pics up. This is my first time doing this so I apologize if it doesn't work or if they are to big or to small. I might just have to wait until TJ gets back from the Ohio frag swap.

Ok. Sorry the pics are so big. I will need TJ to show me how to make them smaller. I am happy with my first picture posting attempt though lol :)

Anyways, let me know what you think!

Also,

Someone is already enjoying the tank...even without the fish! lol

When you upload to photobucket change the setting "redice to" to 800 x 600 (15" screen), rather than the 17" screen settings you used.

Okay. Thanks for your help, Goodwin! I was able to go back and edit the size on all of them. It's much better.
