LAN help

I need some help getting my LAN card working... I assumed it'd be straightforward, but for some reason, ProfiluxControl can't communicate with my controller.

Details:
- Profilux EX II controller - 3.05
- LAN card
- ProfiluxController 3.0.6.1

Everything is networked through a netgear gigabit switch (with a netgear router for outside connections). Everything is static IP:

- PC: 192.168.1.20
- router: 192.168.1.1
- profilux: 192.168.1.9
- netmask: 255.255.255.0

I can browse to the .9 address and get the Lantronix page, and I can set the netmask and gateway through that page (and verify that they're saved).

If I search for network devices through ProfiluxController, it finds a unit at .9, but when it tries to actually connect, it times out.

Any suggestions? I don't have the special serial cable yet to be able to flash the firmware...

Ok first noticable mistake you are running conflicting versions

Please make sure BOTH firmware and control software are V3.06

Then we will take it from there

Michael

Can the firmware be updated without the special serial cable? Or do I need to downgrade the ProfiluxController software?

V3.06 has easier set up control for the LAN. So I would advise upgrading NOT going the other way.

Why do you not have a GHL RS232 cable? All packages from day one came with them for this reason.

If you have not got one let us know

I didn't get a package- I simply couldn't find one that had everything I wanted in it, so I got the II EX controller, a power bar, and a couple odds and ends.

I'm bummed now... I'll have to wait another week to use my controller... :(

Talk to your retailer and I am sure they will get one to your quickly, if they dont have one in get them to contact us so we can get it sorted via them quickly.

Cant have a man down with no connection can we!

Firmware 3.05 works with ProfiLuxCOntrol 3.0.6.2 - no problem.

Since you can access the lantronix configuration page over your browser you are only one step away from getting a connection with ProfiLuxControl.

There are 2 things which may cause trouble:
- the baudrate is not the same - did you change it in ProfiLux and/or in the lantronix configuration? Default is 9600, usually this needs not to be changed.
- your firewall blocks communication. The port 10001 must be free

Ah - I might have changed the baudrate while playing with it earlier; I assumed it was only for the COM port, so didn't think about it. I'll check on that. I'm inside the firewall on both devices (they're both on the same switch), so nothing should be blocked.

That worked! It makes sense now- you're using the internal com port to talk to a com->TCP/IP bridge....

One question- the 3.06 firmware doesn't specify if it works for the Plus II EX... Am I safe to upload the firmware?
