This area seems as good as any to ask this one.

I am in the process of dreaming up my next system. Hopefully we will be moving in the next two years, and I want to do it well. I'm thinking 300 gallon, in wall, etc. I digress.

A few years back I saw a tank build website where the guy actually made a fake sand bed. He used something, I don't know what, to create a solid bottom that looked like sand. I've searched for his site but to no avail.

Does this ring a bell? How does he keep it clean, I wonder?

i would say it was most likely a PVC bottom that the guy then took pvc glue poured all over it and the put sand all over it, put more glue and sand on it again, this is how i make PVC burrows look natural for my mantis shrimp only you would do it on the entire bottom

I did that and it turned black due to trapped junk in about five months. On my current tank I used a spray paint called "Make it Stone" and painted the outside bottom of the tank....Looks pretty good, but the tank was just setup recently
