They are just scavengers, it shouldn't cause you any problems.

I have been told that they don't hurt anything until they get over 6 inches long. They eat all the crap.

this is 10" he has a friend on the other side of the tank and there are babies as well. I have always had them and have never had a problem, but just recently I have been reading posts of people doing everything to get rid of them, however they only come out of the rocks when I feed the tank.

I tyhink I will just give him a night time feed.... If he is still there

speaking of the devil he is out now feeding on his new found dinner he is half under a rock half out about 5" exposed the little hermits are going mad as well. The night time is so cool
