LARGE Hermit Crabs.

Anyone know of a Vendor who sells LARGE Hermits.I found one at my LFS and he does an incredible job picking uneaten food off the bottom.I have a 5" Aussie Tusk that will harass and eat anything that isn't XL.Tanks a 180 Gallon.I'd like to buy a few.Never seen them before. Thanks...

I used to get the red legged ones from a lfs that were just enormous, almost fist sized and they were so aggressive they could stand up to my triggers...
However, the lfs could no longer get them and I have not seen them around in a long time...
I like reefs2go for hermits and pods, shoot them an email and see if they can get large ones for you.

I used to see them at PetCo all the time, not lately though.....worth checking if you are near any though.

FWIW, the hermits you're looking for are Dardanus spp., the most common being D. megistos. They do get large, but can also be destructive.

I have one that is red legged PM me and I can send you picks of him. He is not destructive and eats from a bamboo scewer

Thanks for all the great info, I'm really surprised more vendors don't carry them. I think their perfect for a Fowlr with Invert eating fish. All my Fish are 5-6" plus. If it wasn't for the Aussie Tusk I wouldn't need anything huge.
