ive got a huge upgrade thats coming up around fall and im really interested in getting some really massive fish but find because of common small tanks, common smaller fish are all thats available. so if you had a 1200g reef tank and wanted a few massive fish but they had to be reef safe........what would you get?

I have a Red Sea sailfin and a Vlamingi in my 1000.
Some of the large angelfish, although not truly "reef safe" are also great. I have an 8" Emperor that looks pretty good in there.
Crosshatch trigger would also be cool.

has anyone ever seen someones vlamingii grow from young to 24" in a home aquaria? what do you think they would get to in a 10'-12', 1000g home tank? 18"?

My vlamingi is 13" long in a 7' long tank. My naso's are 11" male and 9" female in the same tank.

Too bad some of you are not closer as I want to get rid of the Vlamingi along with a large sailfin and scribbled rabbott.

biggest vlamingii ive ever seen in the home was about 19 or 20".
why do you want to get rid of the vlamingii? sailfins and and clown tangs are both cool and get pretty big my imperator angel is awesome and ive seen them in alot of reefs but mine i got from another reefer cause it nipped corals

I've got a juvenile vlamingi and he's great. I would definitely recommend one in that size tank. You might be able to see one with streamers on it.

A few xtra large black long nosed tangs. A store here had them a few months ago, but ended up dying. They looked awesome but definetly required a huge tank.....they were at least 10" long

ive thought over a ton of different tangs and angels. but im worried about all my micros, lords, and blastos. id also really love to add a harlequin tusk to the tank but i cant have a system that big without any inverts or clean up crew.
the vlamingi is a very likely fish that will be added to this system. but at the same time im kinda looking for fish that normally cant be kept in a typical tank because of size restraints. keep the suggestions up guys.

I'm looking at getting rid of mine because I have the pair of large Naso's, a large pink tail trigger and added in a blue hippo tang as well as I'm starting to collect swallow tail angels, Wantanabie and bellus at the moment, looking for mates for them. Plus I want to make the tank a reef tank with some large Monti cap Coloines, one of each color I can find. Just not a lot of swimming room left for a tank full of big fish after that.
