large tank placement and safety

I'm thinking of upgrading to a deep dimensions 250 or 300 gallon tank, but I'm a little worried about how much it will weigh (in terms of the structural integrity of the floor).

It will be going on the entry floor of our house. I'm not interested in putting it i the basement.

What do people think about this issue? What would make people not put it in a certain place? Should the weight even be taken into consideration?

thanks a lot.

Most well built homes should be able to support a tank of that size as long as it's perpendicular to the joists and close to either an exterior wall or the central beam.

I recommend contacting a qualified structural engineer or at least a general contractor to be safe.
