i have a million half finished projects in the mix, but was wondering if anyone has access to a laser cutter or knows where you can rent time on one. I have the cad files already drawn up and just need it cut. larger platform area would be needed. thanks in advance

A friend of mine had a company that did metal work and laser cutting. I would leave that to the pros. Prob could be done reasonably. JW Appley and sons off ulmerton in Clearwater. Check that out

when you say "leave it to the pros" do you mean putting the material into the machine and pressing start?

i have already done all of the design and have the files just needs to be cut now

Guess that's what I meant. Anyways hopefully the info helped

i wasn't trying to be sarcastic, i'm actually curious.... Is there anything else i should know about the process? I assumed it was similar to CNC routing.

I'll give them a call sometime middle of next week. appreciate the input

Most places I've ever worked would never let anyone but the operator run the machine. And your cad files have to be converted into g-code. Your cad files must also contain the speed at which the item should cut. Rounded edges have to be cut faster than straight edges and so on and so forth.

I'm not sure what the whole whole process entails but what I was saying was that giving them you're design and having them do it instead of renting the machine would be the direction I would go.

BTW what's it for a stand?

this is exactly the answer im looking for. I have read things about coreldraw but have no experience.

As far as renting the machine, i was more referring to renting the time it takes to cut.. Like having the shop charge me for 30 minutes of cut time, or the time it takes to load and cut the materials. Shop operators would do all the work i would have just supplied the drawing. I didnt figure in the need for an operator or worker to actually correlate speeds and things of that nature.
thanks for the response :)
