laser pointers light match pop balloon, Kill aptaisia?

So the question is, can you kill aptaisia and other unwanted species with a super-bright laser light? My thought is to take a high power 3000mw green laser pen (or other color of your choice) and blast the suckers with it. Has anyone ever tried?

Thanks, I'll have to do that when I get out from behind the work firewall. It occurred to me on the way in today.

Some people say it worked perfectly, some say they pests came back within a few weeks. If you have the laser, go for it. But don't drop a couple hundred if you'll only use the laser for this.

Part of the reason it came to me is to justify a laser. The other part is because I saw some little tentacles peeking up out of the sand that look a lot like apts.

And you don't have to spend that much on a laser. Some (china sales) sites have them for under $50. If it worked well enough, it might even be the next wonder product for aquaria. Probably would want to design a waterproof version... Maybe $150 for an selective, target-able aptasia and majano killer? I'd think you'd sell plenty of that.

I'd think you might also be able to selectively go after a number of other difficult to remove critters with it, possibly including algae.

Make sure you protect your eyes from reflections of the laser. It can blind you very quickly. Apastia battle isn't worth the loss of your vision.

I spent around $350 to build my own 1.7 Watt laser after a few hours of reading how to do it and what I'd need on laser pointer forums (.com)-no spaces.

Yes - they burned my Aiptasia but the aiptasia came back in a few weeks. Now it sits broken in my drawer with bad battery connectors.

The only thing that's working for me is kalk paste.

That's the thread I started and I'm here to say lasers do burn up aiptasia... but a lot of them also grow back. A 3w laser may do a better job, but I have my doubts. The problem is burning up the ENTIRE aiptasia. If it is even a bit hard to get at the foot, it's very likely going to grow back. If you have the 3w laser, it's well worth the try... just be careful about reflections and not only your eyes but everybody else in the room. If you don't have the laser, save your money. I have a 1w and a 1.4w and they both sit in a drawer.
