Last baffle in sump=lower salinity level

Hi RC. I think this is very strange. My sump has one first section, a small middle one, and a third one. The Third one is where my ato is hooked up to. My display tank is 1.027 always but the third section of my sump is 1.021 every time I measure it. Is this bad? My return pump is on the lowest setting available because if I turn it up any higher my filter sock will overflow.

Does anyone else have this problem??

Thanks. :hmm5:

Human error perhaps? Maybe the instrument your using is out of tune. It's all one body of water regardless.. ;)

Is it bad? No
How big is your tank? Sump? The section where the return pump is?
Depending on the size of the last chamber, and with the ATO emptying into that section with very low flow, I would expect the salinity to be lower. As long as the display is where you want it, and is stable, you're good to go.

My suggestion would be to turn off the ATO temporarily, wait until the system circulates for a while, and then re-measure. I think you'll find it matches. Oh, and nothing to worry about BTW.

My tank is 42 gallons and my sump holds 16 but I think only about 12 total. I would say the last chamber is 4 gallons. I have experimented the past few days and measured the display (always at 1.027) and the first baffle of the sump (always 1.027) and the last baffle is 1.024. It is the strangest thing.

But nothing to worry about everyone says, that's good. Thanks guys :bounce2:
