Latest victim of a bad economy

I sure hope things turn around soon. My plant was called into an unscheduled meeting to find out that we are going to a four day work week. I know it could be worse but that's exactly the problem. If things dont turn around it's going to get worse. At least, for now anyways, I have four days of work.

That sucks we just let some people go as well, though at the at the moment the group I work in seems safe.... for now at least. Hope this starts turning around "soon".

worst part is its a chain reaction. People are making less or no money so they don't buy much, the corporations arent making any money so they are cutting people, and the cycle starts over

i made it thru our cuts but there were a couple of people20+ years that they let go, good severance package though. forced 10 people into early retirement. ah the american dream just loving it.

I'm a cook and I seem to stay busy.... for now I hope! my old man works at ford and he hasn't work in 12 day he has prob 40 yrs in and still isn't working they way he use too something needs to change I'm about to be done with college and I know I'm never going to find a job

Is there someone out there that is racking up the hours?
Or are they afraid to say anything?

Since transferring to our Columbus office, there never seems to be enough hours in the day to get all my work done and we just keep getting busier

Your company hiring?

Considering something like 60,000 people got canned yesterday I guess I should consider myself lucky. I'm just hoping it doesn't go to 60,001.

You'll never see a news story that says Ford hires one employee today. Its always like that, they hire them one at a time and lay people off by the thousands.

Work will come back, but it will only come back once salary levels decrease on the whole to reflect the available capital in the market. Thats a very painful process. If you can stay afloat during those times with your job intact, there is very little effect on you. If you lose your job, its devastating.

Basically this means I need CHEAP frags, better yet, expensive frags that are sold cheap. Remember, it's a buyers market...

Yea everyone is at risk. I work at the clinic and I know our jobs seem at risk. Hope not.. Already a hiring freeze and pay freeze.

We're seeing storm clouds on the horizon at work as well. We are looking a substantial lay-offs in the next 1-3mos. I have been given reasonable assurance that I will be ok. However, I will be crossing my fingers...
