Latz found dead!

It was a sad, sad day today. Went this morning to check on fish and at first couldn't find my female latz clown. To my heart wrenching surprise I saw it on the floor! aargh!! After 4 years! My male is now single. I'm hoping someone can help me, help him find love again.

Ow man...... This story makes me sick and it wasn't even my fish.
I'm just over here in Lakeland, not much of a drive from O-town. I know someone that's pretty good at getting the rare and unusual. I'll talk to him and see what he can come up with. As I'm sure you know, it's a shot in the dark, and these aren't cheep fish. It can't heart to ask though, right?

I'm so sorry. What a heartbreaking loss of such a beautiful fish. :(

PIA offer full-barred, CB juveniles for a price considerably lower than it was just a year or so ago. Might be worth checking out. They're a sponsor, so I'll post a link:

Aarh what a shame, have you tried Ibluewater.com I think they have some small ones.

Good luck

I lost my 6 year old male Rods Onyx to jumping last month. I was so upset over it, I have been having a hard time finding small Onyx to replace him.

after receiving four chrysopterus and two latz this week....ive spent all morning creating a fishing line tank cover strictly to prevent this.

im sorry to hear about the lost female, but i will certainly second the pacific island aquatics referral...great fish.

damn. i had a large pair too. pains me to see an old fish go out like that. only clowns i had jump are 2 saddles. both males. but the female is large, over 4" so she could have chased them.
but i feel for you. Latz are in my top fav clowns i ever own. so much personality and beauty.

Thanks for all the sympathies and all the tips. I did contact ibluewater and they have them in quarantine now. More $ than PIA but saves me from the hassle of setting up a QT tank again. Will keep you all posted.

Save the money and go with pia's clowns. I have a pair in my mangrove tank. Never had an issue. They come small but a good price and they eat well.

I'm glad to hear you found a Latz, I am really looking forward to get mine.I just had a watchman goby which did the same trick as your Latz:0(

IBW are super and have a very good service.

awe man such a bummer! Makes my heart sink too and it's not my fish. Do please cover your tank. This wouldn't have happened if they were covered. Good luck with finding another one :)

( Yes I have screens for both my tanks and my qt tank! )

Sorry for your loss and hope you pickup a replacement. One question what temp do you keep the latz in? Can they be kept at 78-80? I've heard mixed answers on this. I've always wanted a pair but will not be able to keep a species specific tank just for Latz.

So sorry to hear that!!! Same thing happened to my huge female sunkist pink skunk a few months back. I hit up ibluewater and luckily they had one pair left and he was nice enough to split it for me and just sold me the female to replace mine. My male is now happy as a clam again!!!

I keep mine at 75-76. I have a chiller which mostly come on during the "hotter" Florida summer days since I have a LED fixture. My system is a mixed community reef which does fine at those temps.

Here is my CB pair in my mangrove tank which is off my sump in my basement. The tank is kept at 78. If they are not wild they can be kept at normal temps.

I lost my female Onyx a while back the same way. It's not easy especially once you've had them for so long. I wish you luck finding a suitable replacement.

Very sorry to hear. My female percula jumped out of my QT tank while I was watching the tank(that she was in). I saw her swim half way down and simply jump up and out of the tank. I think she did this because it was feeding time while I was in their but I was fiddling with the DT so she got mad. She is now scared to go to the top unless my hands are in the tank with flake food :)

Sorry to hear about this, I lost my male clown yesterday just got him. I think it was stress/bad spike in water quality. I felt horrible, hope you find another mate for your male.
