Lawnmower Blenny won't eat

Purchased blenny 6 days ago, can't get him to eat. Tried frozen shrimp,alge based flake food,and carnivore pellets. Dont have alge in tank , only coraline alge on living rock and glass.Very nice fish, hate to lose him!!!!What do you guys recommend??

I'm certainly no expert but my LFS suggested dried seaweed pieces when I was discussing the topic with them recently. My lawnmower also seems to like a few mysis shrimp (you didn't mention what sort of frozen shrimp you tried) and often partakes of the TetraColor Marine Flakes I feed the rest of the tank. Your mileage may vary.

I've had 2 lawnmowers in my lifetime and both have died b/c of starvation. They would never eat any food I supplement in the tank. He would only eat hair algae, and only the short kind. I typically only saw him munching on the glass. They were both way too finicky and eventually met their own demise. No more for me.

My Lawnmower Blenny eats anything I put in tank it seems. The first week, I was concerned, because he wasn't eating. Now, it will eat flake food, frozen food (Spirulina Brine, Rod's Food, etc.), food pellets. He even swims to top of tank to eat the flake food off the surface. The only thing I haven't seen him eat is dried seaweed that I put in tank for Tang & Emerald Crab. But this may be because he never get a chance at the dried seaweed, since not in tank very long before before the above mentioned eat it. Just look at my aviater to see how happy he is.

try algea wafers and nori on a clip. Mine wouldn't touch food for months but after seeing all the other fish eating eat and the tang at the clip he eventually joined in. You could also try soaking the food in garlic cuz fish love garlic

Try Nori on a clip or rubberbanded to a rock.

OHHH BOY! no he wont eat any of that stuff. all he will eat is off the rocks....and hes a GREAT fish at keeping the algae down if you have any.


go back to your LFS immediately and try to purchase from them if they have any some rock with hair algae.


MINE wont touch any dry or frozen stuff....and ive had hi for 4 months...he gets elvis fat off of the rocks....
