So I've had my candy-stripe hogfish (Bodianus sepiacaudus) for about a year and a half. Great fish. Not mean - the only fish he ever bothered was when a tried to add a four-line wrasse about a year ago. He hated that fish, so the wrasse went back to the store. He doesn't bother anyone else in the tank. Ever.
I've noticed the last 6 months or so, he's just kind of gotten lazy. He has a little spot he likes in the rock work (see pic below) and he just chills out there most of the day. He of course comes out to eat, but he just spends most of the day relaxing.
Is that a normal behavior? I read that this fish gets mean as it gets older -- if anything, my hog is getting more mellow.
Any thoughts?
