Least hiding-iest Angel

For a Centerpiece addition, in an aquarium with mostly butterflies, i'd like to add an angelfish.

Problem is, i'm been considering the
1)blue ring annularis
2)Asfur
3)Blue face

And am wondering, reputation/experience wise, how would they rank in terms of swimming about in the open (as opposed to hiding in the rockwork).

I understand that it's ultimately up to the individual specimen, but would like to hear your thoughts

Thanks in advance

My ~5-6 inch asfur is out and about all the time and is the tank boss... tank mates include drawf angels(coral beauty, 1/2 black, & bicolor) tangs( sailfin, yellow, powder blue), maroon clownfish, lunnar wrasse (wanta be tank boss), scat, columbian sharks(3) and a couple of mollies

I see the 9-10" blue ring annularis swimming out in the open all the time at the lfs' 600g DT and the 4-5" Asfur does the same.

I've a 4.5" juv (changing) Blueface likes hangs out in the rockwork most of the time with the juv (also changing) Emperor and both rule the tank.

I also have a 5" Blueface (full adult) and he is definitely more of a cave dweller. Only fish in the tank are him, a little 4" Naso and a Blue Dot Puffer, but he loves his cave (and loves to defend it as well).

I agree, my old queen was always out and about, interacting with me everytime I came into the room. Very personable fish! Too bad it's not on your list, they also get pretty aggressive when older, so it may not fit your stock list.

my blue angel is always out, very active, fun swimmer, and awesome looking streamers (although he's a toughie)

O yes : The 3 i know for sure that swim out are the French, Queen, and Emperor (which are also more popular)

I"m just gathering research on species i know less about :)

I have a baby Blue Face with full adult colors that's always swimming freely back and forth in my tank.

Any well acclimated and adjusted angel, Poma. Hola. angel should always be swimming around. Some angels of these angels take more time to become adjusted but when healthy they should swim non-stop. Some of the Geniacanthus and others are not open water swimmers and will hide because that's their nature. Out of the ones you listed. The Blueface will be more likely to be shy at first but with time will become a puppy dog as the others. Regards, Tim

What about a Goldflake? I got a small 2.5" specimen fom Serdar at Phishybusiness. From day one this fish has been out front and very active. It holds its own against my larger Blue Line and Chrysurus Angel.

My Queen Angel is always out grazeing on the live rock and always swims to whatever side I am to convince me to feed her, I know its not on your list but I thought I would tell you.:)

Well if you want a large showpiece angel I would get a Conspiculatus. That is the sweetest angel. Tim

I had a blue ring that was VERY skittish. He basically only came out to eat, and nip at my LPS. Beautiful fish, but you just didn't get to see him that much

who wouldn't want one ? :D

Good to hear opinions... how come there are so little on Asfur angels ? I thought they were popular because they were .... more exotic than the commonly offered indo-pacific species.
