leather disease?

Has any one seen this happen to a leather before? It's like the upper tissue layer is being eaten away. It's not a rapid progression and the leather seems okay otherwise. Any advice or treatment people know of?

And yes all H20 parameters are normal so don't ask!

my leather does that and it also does not open up for a while then after five days it looked great! I think they shed themselves becuase my water is perfect also everything else looks great i was told they go through a phase

Recently I've been thinking it might be reproductive in nature, ie a budding mechanism. One of the affected pieces looked like it was about to fall off, so i ripped it off. Low and behold the ripped off piece is quite healthy as is the orginal colony.. So maybe it's not diseased at all.

Good to know others have a similar situtation, it helps us as a group to solve these problems.

Yeah, I think that's it's way of growing, but that is totally just my thoughts. Don't rip any more off unless you want to ship it to me. ;)
