Leather Toadstool help

I put a leather toadstool frag in my 14 gal. bio cube on Thursday after water was checked by LFS and was given the ok to put in tank. Doing great the first 3 days and closed up on Sunday and has not opened up sense then. Do you think I should move it to another location?? I have stock lighting, replaced stock pump to a MJ 900, no filter, live rock rubble in back.

IMO do not move it. That usually just makes the corals more ticked off. But its completely normal for corals to sometimes close up randomly, especially leathers it seems. Mine will sometimes close up for no apparent reason, and then open a while later. Sometimes i find that it was just my retard cleaner shrimp walking all over it, and other times its apparently nothing.

Whats more, its new. New corals can close up for a while when they're getting used to your tank and lights and stuff.

Test your water again for

nitrate
phosphate
SG
temp
pH

Your leather is probably molting, i think that's what they call it. It closes up, and sheds and grows bigger, this will happen a lot. At least my leathers do.

I have a small toadstool that closed up on me as well. I was getting worried, especially since I paid a bit of money for it, but after a few days it opened up again. Keep it where it's at.

exactly keep it where it's at...the time to worry is when the leather's base or stalk looks to be rotting away....dont get this confused with it shedding off detritus and other gunk which looks like a film. The rotting process is clearly different. From what you said everything seems normal so far so dont worry at all.

I've never had any of my toadstools shed, but i have other leathers that do shed. So i'm not sure if toadstools do it or not.
