leather toxin affecting corals?

I have a new yellow sinularia leather in my tank(nano tank) all other corals look fine but my zoanthids are closed up or partially closed. Do you think the leather could be putting out chemicals that the zoanthids are especially sensative to....?

like I said all others look good

Test it. There are many factors that can cause zoos to close.
If it is chemicals from the leather than lots of carbon should take care of it.
Run an excessive amount of carbon for awhile and see if your zoos open up. If not, you can rule out leather toxins.

I have a huge yellow leather in my tank, over 14" from front to back, and it's within inches of tons of corals including SPS. I've never noticed anything bad from this and have heard responses that "chemical warfare" isn't occurring as much as most think. I would look for other sources first.

does anyone have more info on leather coral and toxins? I have a torch coral and elegance coral that are quickly dying and wondering if one of hte leathers in my tank could be emitting a toxin and causing the problem?

I have a couple of leathers in my tank and I don't see any problems with zoos, SPS, LPS.

Did you property acclimate the corals to your lights? how long have you had them? try to shade them a little, that's for the torch. Sorry to say but that elegance is not going to make it, mine died within two weeks after getting it, they have poor record of survival.

try running carbon, that will take care of the toxins out if there is any. I would move the torch down are they both getting the brown jelly? brown jelly spreads very fast. make sure there is some flow around them but not strong. Try cleaning the brown jelly with a turkey baster. How big is your torch any heads unaffected?
