LED Color Combo?

Thinking about making a LED fixture for Sump. I gonna grow Chaeto like you never seen before!

Will be a 6 x 9" heat sink with 10 LEDs max as per the dimmable driver.

Want super nice pop and lots of color. Maybe 60 degree optics, since I can dim it down if too powerful

Was thinking:
4 Royal Blue
2 Neutral White
2 Ultra Violet
1 Green
1 Red

Something like this. What ya think?

I had the same idea for my fuge and to place some frags down there .. Will tag along to see how this comes out.

Yea, its really for a frag rack in the sump, but my cheato may reap the benefits

The next option is a dimmable china style, but I feel like building something

I really dont want much white light. May rid one more out of the equation. Thinking the violet will be adding white, but not sure.
maybe:
4 Royal Blue
2 Ultra Violet
1 Neutral White
1 Green
1 Blue
1 Red

or
4 Royal Blue
2 Ultra Violet
1 Neutral White
2 Green - can get yellow from the greens
1 Red

Boy, I got to much time at work today

For Cheato growth 5000k to 6500k white is all you need 1 watt Leds maybe throw a couple of reds Ive heard they complete the plant growth spectrum, for keeping corals in sump from time to time put some 420k/455k actinics around the outside edge where you can keep the cheato seperated by some egg crate This is my ultimate refug light I will build for my new tank

Its really for frags, I got to get my huge rack out of my display.

Plus, I want to see if I can change the color of some of my corals

Looks good. I would think you'd want some cool white in there as well. It adds some "crispness". I have 12 on my biocube, and my spread is 7 RB, 2 NW and 3 CW. I think the colors are nice. The only issue I have is since I do not run dimmers, the whites tend to wash out things a bit. If I had to do it again, I would eliminate a white, and maybe add UV, red, and green as a little plus. I don't think there is a right answer, but LEDs will grow your frags, and make your Zoos look absolutely insane! Please post pics of your progress. I have also considered ditching the fuge idea and putting a frag/growout area in its place. GL with it, sounds like a nice project!

might want to look into multi chips. Alot less work and easier to set up, esp for a sump set up if color spectrum is not priority. The 20 watt royal blue supplementation light i made for my main tank rand me a total of $46 for the 20 watt blue chip, heat sink and driver. Just something you might want to look into.

ps. they have hybrid chips as well so its a mix of blue and white diodes. Im planning on doing one of those set ups for my sump on the fuge/frag/fish acclimation section.

Yea, my whites wash out stuff too. May put a dimmer on them in future.

Im keeping my refugium, I have a 6 inch wide return section on the right side of sump I plan on using for a rack.

I agree, zoas are lucky Leds came out. Many of them are not impressive under regular light.

Who sells multi-chips? Not sure they can reproduce what 6 or seven colors can.

And if I dont like it, I cant switch up a couple colors

you can skim through this thread if your interested. http://www.reefcentral.com/forums/showthread.php?t=2128756

Most of the LEDS you get off ebay from a seller called ac-rc. In your initial post you mentioned it going over a sump for cheato, hence my reply about color spectrum not being a priority. If your planning on keeping frags mainly then this might not be your ideal situation. although, it has been working great for alot of the people trying it, including myself. just my $0.02
