LED Lights

The actincs are simply amazing make corals pop more than VHO's. but the 10k's RandyO had told me wouldnt be good for my 7gallon nano, not bright enough for growth, so i dont think they will be good for a 125. also i do beleive they are cheeper threw That Fish Place.com . i am going to use the actinc on my nano if the LED's i just got dont do the trick.

Thanks guys...

What do you think...If I wanted, do you think 2 of these actinics would work at give the tank some dawn and dusk lighting?

Also...even if I didn't want to use it to provide light for growth, couldn't these be used to add that shimmer...costs a lot less than MH and you never have to change the bulbs...

im not sure how much it will illuminate a 125. we only saw it in a 5gallon bucket...lol...im also not sure if it will give you a shimmer because of the size of the tank with the other lights on. it is a little over est on the never changing bulbs...lol...depending on the led it should last probibly longer than the power supply will in the unit but round bout 9-11 years @ 12h a day.

I run my LED (moon lights) all night long and love them... definately shimmer at night, but you probably wouldn't even notice them in the day when the are drowned out by other lighting. you could defiantely use them for dusk/dawn, but would be better off running your VHO atinics only, although that would require an additional ballast

Yeah...mine are on all night too...they really do a nice job.

You got it...I would need another balast and would have to do some rewiring...but maybe the $100 would be better spent on another balast and add some more VHO's to the display. The use so much electricty though...

I have two of these panels below, one with Blue and Red and one with just Blue. I have the blue and Red on my fuge at the moment and it has made my Cheato grow like crazy as well as making it very green, also my mangrove shoot has begun to produce several sets of leaves as well. The red and blue is supposed to induce growth and flowering and the Blue is for just growth. I plan two use both panels on my new sump/fuge.

I think you could use these panels on some smaller tanks of 40 gal or less as supplemental lighting. The blue panel is rated at 450-460mn.

One guy is using them to "highlight" certain corals. The 460nm lights really bring out extra colors you don't see, or don't see as well with regular actinics, be they T5 or VHO's.

A friend has one and we turn off all the lights and look at different corals with it. It's unbelievable what added color you'll pick up.

i have the 4 led current strip powerbright straight actinic and honestly it blows vho.t5ho.standerd t8. or any other actinic out of the water. i have one strip over my 12 ap and it brings out INSANE florecence.
