LED Moon Lights - dimming?

No, A08 on the DC8 is a dimmable outlet. It is dimmable only with the mon function. Kind of cool with the LED rope light.

Is this rope light a true LED light? What kind of power adapter does it have?

you swear? I can plug any dimmable light in there (your leds or other incandescent ) and A08 with moonlight program works it - I had no idea. How did I miss that - thanks - this is great

It has to have no transformer (big *** plug) if it does you will burn it out...

Simple led lights need these (because of the small amount of power consumed) bigger led light systems (rope lights) get around this via # of leds, but are often too bright for moon lights

ideally you want a 2-4 led light system (but to make it work without a transformer you need to change the resistance...

The LED rope light from target is not too bright because the lights are not focused. Because of this you get the perfect glow for a tank, plus you can dim it. Don't knock it if you haven't tried it.

Do you have a link to the product so I can check it out? I live in Canada and don't have a Target store.

Do you get the shimmer effect with the rope light?

My buddy has the 1 watt pfo moon lights and the shimmer effect with the fluorescence is amazing. I'm sold on getting two 1 watt moons. I may not even worry about the moon cycle since I would prefer to not have spawning coral anyway. But I am holding out just to see what Neptune has coming out before I buy anything.

They do shimmer my Hammer (very close to the surface). As for the 1 watt bulbs, the rope lights are $11.99 and can be dimmed. How can you go wrong?

If it where about spending less, I wouldn't have a Neptune...its about wanting the best. :) Just ask my wife....I like to spend extra money.

I assume you can cut the rope light to be the correct length?

I wouldn't do this on an LED rope light. You will kill it. They are wired in series and all the LED's need to be in the string. Only the incandescant rope lights can be cut.

BTW still hunting for information on these Philips LED rope lights. They don't even list them on the Philips website.

We are internally testing it now. A bit behind schedule, but the project is looking good.

I hope you guys come up with something that looks good and can be mounted where it is visible. I have a hanging fixture over an open top tank and have been trying to figure out what to do about moonlights for a long time... I could tear the fixture apart and mount them inside it but that is a big ordeal that I'd rather not deal with.

Looking for a status on this? Anything happening?

I noiced the moon lights are listed on the price page on neptune's website, but no $$ or further info is included.

I would love to see a preview of what they will consist of...

An added feature will be dawn and dusk simulation as well.
Curt

Curt, was this feature implemented on the Lunar SIM modules? If so, could you provide a sample of what programming would be required to pull off a moon cycle plus a dawn/dusk simulation using the Lunar SIM?
