LED moonlighting from autolumination

Anthony8858,
when I get mine I'm going to just mount them with the sticky part but I'll also use a wire clip, (just something to hold the wire) so that if it does come un-stuck it will just dangle there instead of falling in. If the sticky part just doesn't work I'll probably use super glue or something like that.

I am using one on a 4' tank and I think that I am going to have to order another one. It makes a great highlight spot, but doesn't really spread out enough onto the rest of the tank...I'll have to wait and see.

i agree can you guys PLEASE tell me where you stuck yours too in ur canopy's i dont know where to put mine to work. Is it ok to put it on the ceramic socket of my MH or does that get too Hot ??
Nick

lol thanx for the reply lol i have a plastic uv cover under the lights and i stuck them to that to help keep them out of the heat so far so good any problems with that ?
Nick

I have had my setup done for a while, but here are some pics.

(it's a FW tank)

I'm very intruiged by the prospects of hooking one of these LED lights to my tank, but I've got a question for all you electrical gurus out there.

My mains are running at 240V instead of 110, would that make a difference in the type of AC/DC converter I'd need to buy?

@nyfireman3097: Not sure what help you are looking for. If one set is brighter than the other, then one is probably broken. If you wired them wrong (serial instead of parallel) then they would both be dimmer than they could be but you might not notice that unless you had something to compare them to.

btw, as you can tell from my photo I attached one of mine to the bracket for the MH socket and it works fine.

shouldn't matter which bulb configuration...they should wire up the same.

What power supply are you using and how did you wire them up?

Jeff

Should be working fine if that 12V powerpack can handle the amperage (which it most likely can). Maybe you got a bum light with a bad LED or two.

Just bought two blue 3-led lights... Need to make a trip to wally world to get me a 12v, 250ma AC/DC converter. This is what I need right? I'll post some pics when it's finished. Going to be hard to mount them in a canopy over a 55 that already houses two halides with spider reflectors and two T-5s. :eek1:

Sorry, double post...

The 12v, ACDC 250ma converter is what I need correct?

Can't wait to light my tank up... I'm sick of losing fish who aimlessly wander into my carpet anemone making them a late night snack . :rolleye1:
